'lhis invention relates t0 boxes, such a s are comrnonly usecl in stores for packing 21111- cles of merchandise, and has particular reference to the ornamentation thereof 1501 the purpose of simulating a box having a 1id there on und the whole surrounded by 21 1'ibb011 wh1ch is tied in the usual manner.

It is 0110 of the objects 0;E the invent1 on to provide a box that is ornmnented W1th ribbonsand to which the ribbons z1re permanently attached, so as to facilitatg the packing and delivery of the merchand1se.

A further object is 130 prowde an Ornamented box that Will be attractive 111 appearance and on Which the ribbons Will be so arranged und secured that the lid 1nay be removed without untying 01 re1novm g the ribbons so that the box may be convemently opened and closed Without disturbing the a1- rangement of the ribbons.

Referring to the drawmgs, 10 1I1d1qafies an ordinary rectangular box, such as 1s comxnonly made of carclboard anal usec11n stores for packing articles 0f merchanchsq. T he lid is indicated 21t 11 and has 21 depenchng mm 12 which telescopes over ehe exterior of the box, in the usual manner. 1

There is arranged 011 the 1id 11 the mbbpns 13 and 14 Whioh, f01' purposes 0f enhanc1ng the ornamentation, may be tied, a1: their point of intersection, into the b0W 15. The ends 16 of the ribbon am czuried around the rim 12 and secured on the inside the1eof by means of adhesive 01'111 any other suitable man- Ribbons17 and 18 a1e arranged 0n the sides of the box 10, as shown in Fig. 3, in

registration with the portions of the ribbons 13 and 14 which a1e 011 the rim 12. The upper ends 19 are preferably tied around the t0p sge of the box 10 and secured on the interior thereof by an adhesive 0r in any other suitable manne17 so that, When the lid is in positi0n, these ends are concealed by the rim 12. Having thus described Iny invention what I claim is:

1. The combination of 21 box and 21 lid therefor having 21 rim telescoping With the} box 011 the exterior thereof, 21 ribbon extending across said lid and around said rim with 1ts ends secured on the 1nter1or of the lid, and oppos1te s1des 0f sa1d b0x havmg ribb0ns thereon in registration with portions 0f the first-mentioned ribbon withends secured to the box and concealed by said rim, the whole simulating a box and lid with a ribbon extending therearound.

The combination of abox and a 1id theref0r having a rim telescoping Wih the box 011 the exterior thereof, ribbons extending across said lid in difi"erent directions and around said rim with their ends secured 0n the interior 0f the lid, and opposite sides 0f said box having ribbons thereon in registration with portions of the first-mentioned ribbon ends sacured t0 the box and concealed by said rim, the Who1e simulating a box andlid with a. ribbon extending therearound.
