Application led October 1, 1927. Serial No. 223,358.
This invention relates to an im rovement in supports for menus or bills-o fare, 'andl its object is to provide suitable means thereon for safely clamping the menw thereto and 5 allowing a quick removal of the same therefrom. p
The accompanying drawing illustrates the improved arrangement: Fig. 1 is a front view of the support with the menu thereon,
l Figs. 2 and 8 are vertical sections thereV through with the arts in their position of use and respective y in their detached position, Fig. 4 is a front View of a detail thereof, and Fig. is a plan view of the latter.
The support 1 has a lat T-shaped upper member 2 in which screw-threaded holes are provided vfor the reception of small screws 3 aving each a counter-nut 4 at one end and an' integral head 5 at the other end.
The menu or bill-of-fare 8, preferably within a celluloid envelope of known kind', is at its lower end provided with holes 9 of suiicient width to pass them over the screwheads 5. Furthermore, acoverng stri 6, preferably of springy material, is provide with bayonet holes 7 having lower wide apertures adapted to be passed over the screw-heads 5 and upper narrow apertures fittin over the screws 3.
To use the support, rst, the screws 3 are adjusted toftheir requiredr position thereon, that is so that the distance between the inner ends of the screw-heads 5 and the upper memher 2 of the vsupport suits about the thickness of the menu 8 and of the strip 6. Then, the menu 8 isV passed with its holes 9 over the screw-heads v5 and screws 3- until it bears against the upper member 2 of the support. Finally, the strip '6 is also assed with the 40 lowerwide apertures of its ayonet holes? over the screw-heads 5 and then depressed until the upper narrow apertures of its bay-A onet holes- 7 fit over the screws 3 and the strip 6 is thus located between the screw-heads 5 and the lower end of the menu 8. The use of a strip 6 of springy material is preferred for itsbeing tightly pressed in its holding position. The removal of the menu takes place in the same way, but vice Versa.
What I claim, is v A support for menus or bills-of-fare, comprising in combination with the foot support proper, a horizontal bar on said support, screws adjustablymounted on said horizontal bar and having each a head. rojecting somewhat from said horizontal ar, a clamping bar, an envelope of Celluloid having inwardly' set ot' edges on the upper side and on the two long sides, so that Vthe front andrear sides ofl said envelope are rendered resilient,
4the open lower side through which the ybillo-are is to be linserted eing clamped by means of the clamping bar behind said screw heads.
In testimony whereof I haveA hereunto set my hand. HANS TIMM.
