My invention relates to an improved baletie for packing cotton and other articles capable of baling; and it consists of a buckle.
with suitable slots'a'ttached to one end of the band, in connection with suitable fasteningbuttons for attaching the slotted end of the band by passing over the same and through the slot of the buckle.
In the drawing, -A represents the band or hoop for baling cotton or other articles, to one end of which the buckle Bis applied. Buckle B is provided with lateral slots (1 near the ends, for the passage of the band, and longitudinal slots b for the fastening-buttons C. The buttons 0 are made of double T shape, with tapering or rounded-ofl' lower part, as shown in Fig. 3. The buttons are placed in longitudinal direction into the slots of the buckle, and the opposite band end, which has a number of corresponding slots, 01, passed next through the lateral end slot of the buckle, and then over the in'ojecting heads of the buttons (J, and through the slot at the opposite end of the buckle. The buckle is applied to a stretching-hook, and the band attached to another hook, to allow the taking out of the slack by suitable lever-power. When the band isstretched sufficiently it is locked by passing the slot at the end over the buttons, and turning the same across the same, so that the bale is held in the exact state to which it is pressed, Without producing the tightening of the band by the expansion ot' the cotton. as is commonly the case.
Having thus described my invention, I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The bale-tie herein described, consisting of the plate or buckle B, having slots a b, COlIlbined with the T-buttons O and bale-band A, substantially as set forth.
