IMPROVEMENT IN lCE-CREEPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,678, dated January 25, 1876; applicationfiled November 22, 1875.
is a specification The object of my invention is to prevent the foot slipping upon icy pavements.
It consists of a metal plate in the form of a segment of a circle, cast with a lower plate having points beneath. This casting is secured to the heel of the shoe by a strap passing over the instep. On the under side of the creeper is a sharp ring or a series of points.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of the back of the creeper. Figure 2 is a plan of it. Fig. 3 shows it attached to the shoe.
A is the back guard, cast open to obtain lightness. It is made to conform to the shape of the back of the heel of the shoe.
- B is thelower web or flange passing under the bottom of the heel. G is a sharp segment of a ring projecting downward beneath the flange B. It may consist of points instead of a ring. These three parts-A, B, and G-are cast all in one piece of hard metal, and a creeper so made is very firm upon the heel and very durable. The creeper is secured to the shoe by a strap, D, passing over the instep and through the eyes 0 in the guard A.
I claim- A cast-metal ice-creeper, formed of a guard, A, flange B, ring or points 0, in combination witn strap 1), substantially as herein described.
