' This invention relates to gas stoves, of the type commonly known as gasranges, and it, seeks to provide a simple and readlly manu-' factured means for providing'a plurality of 1 mountable and demounta-ble,thesaid'mem i with each other.
inlets,- the saidimproved 5 removably mounted cover members ,these cover members being adapted to guard the air and gas mixers from heat and dust.-
It further seeks toprovide such an assembly of cover members which are readily bers being held in frictional engagement vThe invention further seeks toprovi'de-a mixer of the typecommonly employed -'1I1 gas stoves of this kind, -therebeing remove ".ably mounted upon the mixer'a guard member provided with means' for protect ng the mixer; from the heat of =-the burners, this guard member being provided with means forremovably mounting; a cover member upon it, the said cover member-being adapted.
to protect the .mixer from accumulations of dust and dirt. I
The invention fur't er seeks to providean improved valve operatin means ior'the gas means spccliically comprising an'im'proved handle for'operatmgthe valve, the said handle bein for the purpose of ornamentation, forme preferably of. porcelain or an' equivalent material which is easily cleanedand which will not,
' alter in color, together'with improved means for attaching the saidhandle to thevaIve stem. v I
As above i die-ated, the invention relates to-gas stoves of the ran 'e' type of any style found on the market, there eing' provided a guard to protect the mixers from the heat of the burner, and a .,cover member fonthe mixers mounted upon the said guard.
The invention will be readily understood from, an inspection of the. accompanying drawin s, in which Figure 1- represents a front e evation of, a stoveto which the pres 'ent invention has been applied;
Figure 2 isa plan view ofisuch a stove.

upon the inlet valve,--and shows 60 Referring more-particularly to the draw-- "ers 30f the usual type, as usually found in stoves of this type.
the gas and air,
the. said mixer comprising a ieading to the gas inlet 5. T e gas in et 5 s formedby the. valve 6 operated byvthe stem 6. and handle7. he gaspipe elis'surrounded by a sleeve I 8 whlch is provided with a projection-9, as seenfrom Figure 3, the projection as is customarily employed,
Each burner is provided with a mixer foras passa e 4 eQQibrming a shoulder 10- upon which is I sprung the guard member 11, the said guard member being provided with a depending jfiange'or' apron 12 serving as the guard "proper, and a retaining flange 13 which engages the shoulder 10.
at' 14, to receivev therhookedflprojection -15 depending from the cover member 16, the cover 16-being provided with an integral "depending flange lZ for engaging the top of the guard, member 11. The hooked projection 15, the depending flange 17 and the projection 9 serve to hold the guard member 11- in place.-
"holdin'g'the'guard 1]. in place is the main 4,
' to which" the member 9 is attached. The
portion 19, whichis 20 for fitting, around It will thus be seen that the guard member 11 and flange 12 provide v a meansforprotecting the mixer and gas pipe from the heat of-the burners, and the gas pipe, mixer and valve mechanism rom downwardly as at 18' r ,The' guard member 11 is slotted-as shown The principal agent in cover'l6 provides a means for protectin the and easily cleaned.
eled as desired. I
5 valve and valve stem, it will be seen that the valve stem 6 is provided with a pin 21, which pin projects diametrically through the valve stem and is adapted to receive the grooves 22 on the collar 23 of the handle 7.
10'- The handle '7 is formed in any ornamental design, the illustration showing the handle to be in approximately the form of a diamond, the handle also being formed oi'tsome material which will be permanent in color It has been found that porcelain is well adapted for this purpose, and it is frequently desired to form the bandle members of such imitei'ial, the members being either of porcelain, or porcelain enam- The mixer is shown at 5", the gas passing therein through the opening 5" controlled by the valve .6,-thc airports being shown at 6". It will beamderstood that this mixer 26 is of standard construction.
The handle 7 is secured to the valve stem,
at 6". It will be understood that this mixer curely attach the handle 7 to the valve stem there is shown handle 7 secured to the valve stem 6. the stein being threaded and handle is drilled, threaded and screwed on the stem, and is held tightly in position by a small pin pushing through the slot in the handle into a prepared hole in the valve stem.
The construction herein described is simple, easily made, sturdy and easily mountable and demountable; its advantages will 40 be obvious to anyone familiar with this art.
