The invention is designed to improve and cheapen valve mechanisms for stoves, particularly valve mechanisms used with cooking stoves, or hot plates, wherein there is a plurality of valves extending along a manifold supplying gas. Ordinarily these structures have been made of individual units, the valves, the manifold and the connections between the valves and manifold. The present 9 structure is so formed that it may be made of an integral casting, preferably made by die casting and this gives a very much cheaper construction. and at the same time a construction which leaves very few angles, or projections, to keep clean. Features and details of the invention will appear from the specification and claims.
A preferred exemplilication of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying dra w ings as follows Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a stove.

1 marks the stove top and 2 the burner openings and 8 an oven structure which is adjacent to the stove top and may be supplied from the same manifold.
A. manifold 4: has a gas inlet opening 5 to which a gas supply pipe 6 leads. The manifold is formed with a lengthwise chamber which is open at one end and this opening is closed by a plate 4. Along the front wall '7 of the manifold are a series of valve openings 8. These are slightly tapered as such openings usually are and are connected with the manifold chamber by passages 9. A valve plug 10 is arranged in the opening 8 and has a radial opening 11 adapted to be brought into register with the passage 9 and an axial opening 12 leading from the opening 11. A handle opening 13 extends from the opening 8 through the front wall of the manifold and a handle ll extends through this opening into the valve plug 8. A springv l5 yieldingly holds the valve plug to its seat. The openings are closed and a base formed for the spring by a plate 16 which is secured along the top by screws 16. rectly under the front edge of the top of the stove, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, so that the plate 16 is covered and the manifold presents an unbroken surface at the front of the stove except for the handle openings.
The Way 12 leads to a discharge passage 17 and a burner pipe 18 leads to a mixer 19, there being one of these leading from each valve to its particular burner, the valve at the left of Fig. 2 leading to the oven. This provides a structure which may be formed by die casting and machining is practically eliminated. t also makes a very pleasing appearance and does away with odd corners and parts as they are usually formed in structures of this type.
While I have shown this in relation to a stove it will be understood that it may be used in all the classes of such articles which include hot plates and similar devices.
What I claim as new is 1. In a stove, the combination of a plurality of burners; a manifold comprising a manifold chamber; a series of valve openings in the wall of the chamber with radially extending passages connecting the valve openings with the chamber and axially extending discharge passages leading there from; valve plugs in the openings; and connections between the discharge passages and the burners.
2. In a stove, the combination of a plurality of burners; a manifold comprising a manifold chamber; a series of valve openings in the walls of the chamber with passages connecting the valve openings with the chamber and discharge passages leading therefrom; valve plugs in the openings; springs in the openings operating against the plugs; a plate closing the openings and forming a base for the springs; and connections leading from the discharge passages to the burners.

In a stove, the combination of a top; burners under the top; a manifold extending along the front of the stove and under the top comprising a chamber; valve openings in one wall of the chamber, said valve openings having handle openings leading therefrom; V valve plugs in the openings; and handles sethe Wall; valve plugs in the valve openings;
