WATER/BURY, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORATION OF CONNECTICUT.
TOILET-ROLL. nonnnn.
Application filed August as, was. Serial No. 53,087.
This invention relates to bathroom wall fixtures, and more particularly to a holder for a roll of toilet paper adapted to be attached to the Wall of said bathroom.
One object of this invention is-to provide a holder of the above nature adapted to be made from porcelain or other similar material and constructed in the form of a housing, having its sides and top partially enclosing the paper roll carried therein.
A further object is to provide a device of the above nature which will be simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install and manipulate, compact, ornamental in appearance, and very eflicient and durable in use.
With these and other objects in View, there has been illustrated on the accompanying drawings one form in which the invention may conveniently be embodied in practice.
Fig. 1 represents a side view, partly in section, of the toilet roll holder as it appears in operating position upon a wall with a roll of paper contained therein.
Fig. 2 is a front view of the same.
Referring now to the drawings in which like reference numerals denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, the toilet roll holder, herein disclosed, comprises a housing having a flat rear vertical wall 10 adapted to be secured by screws 11 to a wall 12 of a bathroom. Extending forwardly from the rear wall 10 are a pair of flat tapered side walls 13 and 14, each of which is formed substantially in the shape of a sector of a circle. The'sections 13 and 14 are apertured near their front endsfl5 and 16 to receive a locking bolt 17 preferably of metal, adapted to be held in said apertures by means of a pair of ornamental nuts 18 and 19.
A hollow mandrel member 20, preferably constructed of wood and having beveled ends 21, is journaled on the bolt 17 and is adapted to carry a paper roll of the usual standard size. The length of the mandrel 20 is slightly greater than the distance between the side walls 13 and 14, and in order to permit'the mandrel to be readily inserted in position, said side walls are provided in the bottom inner edges of their front ends 15 and 16 with a pair of vertical slots 22 and 23 adapted to form guideways for the extremities of the mandrel 20.
In operation, when it is desired to insert a toilet paper roll 24 in the roll holder, said roll 24 will be slipped over the mandrel 20,
after which themandrel will be moved up in the slots 22 and 23 as far as it will go. The center'hole of the mandrel will then be in alinement with the apertures in the side Walls 13 and 14. The locking bolt 17 will then be passed laterally through the apertures of the side sections 13 and 14, and through the interior of the hollow mandrel 20. The ornamental nuts 18 and 19 will next be screwed uponthe threaded ends of the bolt 17, after which the device Will be ready for use.
One advantage ofthis invention is the extremely rigid construction which is attained by providing the roll holder with thick reinforced Walls, thus permitting the manufacture of the device out of porcelain or other fran ible material, with the minimum danger of breakage.
While there has been disclosed in this specification one form in which the invention may be embodied, it is to be understood that this form is shown for the purpose of illustration only, and that the invention is not to be limited to the specific disclosure but may be modified and embodied in various other forms without departing from its spirit. In short, the invention includes all the modifications and embodiments coming within the scope of the following claims.
Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new, and forwhich it is desired to secure Letters Patent. is:
1. In a toilet roll holder, a housing having a rear section for attachment to the wall of a room. a pair of forwardly extending side sections having a pair of vertical slots extending up from the bottom edges thereof, a hollow roll-holding mandrel adapted to be slid up through said slots and held in operating position thereby, and a rod passing through said side sections and said mandrel for locking said mandrel in said slots.
sections and said mandrel for locking said mandrel in said slots.
3. In a toilet roll holder, a housing adapt-- ed to be attached to the wall of a room, said housing having a pair of opposing side walls, a roll-holding mandrel, said side walls 1 having a pair of slots on their inner sides for receiving said mandrel and holding it in operating position, and a rod passing through said side walls and said mandrel for locking said mandrel in operating position.
4. In a toilet roll'holder, a housing adapt- "ed to be attached to the wall of a room,
said housing having a pair of opposing side walls, a roll-holding mandrel, said side "walls having a pair of slots on their inner sides for receiving said mandrel and holding it in operating position, a rod passing through said side Walls and said mandrel for locking said mandrel in'operating position, and means on said rod outside of said a side walls for looking said rod in position.
5. In a toilet rollholder, a housing adapted to be attached to the wall of a room, said housing having apair of outwardly extending side walls, a hollow roll-holding mandreLsaid side walls having a pair of apertures adapted to aline with the central hole of said mandrel when the latter is in operating position, said side Walls having a pair CHARLES v E.
