Application filed August 16, 1926. Serial lilo 'lltialiil This invention relates to certain novel improvements in soap dishes and more par ticularly to a novel support for a soap dish proper and has for its principal object the provision of an improved construction of this character which will be highly eficient in use and economical in manufacture,
Among the several objects of the invention is 3 revision of an improved construction of this character whereby a soap dish may be expeditiously attached and detached from a stationary support thereby enabling the user to attach the soap dish to the walls of a bath invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by re ereoce to the accompanying drawings .illus ting the preterred form of construclion and in which:
Fig. 1 is a typical side elevational view of the invention.
2 is a front elevational view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional detail View of the same taken substantially on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
t is a fragmentary sectional detail view taken substantially on line H of Fig. 52.
To accomplish the various objects or" the invention i illustrate in the drawings a simple and inexpensive combination ot elements for supporting and attaching a soap dish to a stationary support.
I In the drawing a soap dish is indicated at 10 and is preferably though not necessarily of a wire mesh construction including a rim wire member 11 and intersecting wire members 12. This soap dish 10 may beformed of sheet metal or other analogous material as it will be hereinafter understood that my improved manner of attaching the soap dish to a stationarysupport may be associated with any approved style soap dish.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the rear portion 13 or the rim wire 11 has associated therewith connecting members 14 defining threaded sockets 15 adapted for threaded engagement with the threaded shanks 16 of screwmembers 17. These screw members 1'? define head portions 18 which are embedded or molded in attaching or suction elements 19 preterably formed of rubber or other resilientmaterial. These connecting members 14: are disposed in spaced relation with respect to each other at opposite ends of the rear portion 13 of the rim wire 11 and are preterably though not necessarily, connected to this rear portion through the medium of pin mem bers 20.
The suction elements 19 cooperate with bracing construction 21 for rigidly and ole-- tachably connecting the soap dish to the eta tionary support 22.
This bracing construction includes o'opositely disposed socket members 22 i are connected by solder or the like to nortions 23 or certain of the vrire members 12., These sockets 22 are adapted to receive the portions 24 ot a connecting wire this connecting wire 25 is substantially la -shap d n defines Q11 and its bightportion mg 26 for a connectin member 14! similar in construction to connecting her 1d and this connecting member ceives the threaded shank of screw similar in construction to the screw 17 this screw 17 is associated with an attacliing or suction element 18 in substantially the same manner as screw 1'? Bythe provision of the socket it is possible to detach the connecting wire 95 from association with the soap dish when is not necessary to brace the same.
In attaching" the soap dish to a stationary support, such tor example the wall of a bath. tub or dash plate of a sink the attaching ele ments 18' and 19 which as herein indicated are toi'med of rubber or other analogous material are slightly dampened or covered by some other form of liquid whereby when pressure is exerted on the attaching elements a suction will be created in the hollow portions of these attaching elements when pressure is released. This feature is old in the and l do. not claim the same as a part of the invention. Whenthese suction elements are attached to the stationary support in the "well known manner above described they members 22 will, by reason of their novel association with dil ice
the soap dish 10, provide an expeditious at-o.
tachment and support for the soap dish.
While l have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into edect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention ll, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new'and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
The combination with the rim wire of a soap dish, and suction elements, means for connecting certain of the suction elements to 4 the rim w1re,socket members connected to the soap dish, a connecting wire having 0 posite end portions detachably -received by the socket members, a connecting member carried by the connecting wire and defining a threaded socket, and a screw member having a threaded shank portion adaptedfor thread- ALFRED SCHOE NFELDER.
