This invention relates to a tool or device for removing the card board caps from milk bottles or the like, and if so desired after the cap is removed from the bottle, it may 5 be retained by the remover and by it again used to close the bottle until such time as the bottle has been emptied.
l Vhile there are devices now employed for this purpose, they have many disadvantages, among which are the fact that no proper grip is afforded for the fingers of the operator, nor do they afford or comprise an air tight cap in the event tl'ia-t it is desired to reinsert the cap into the bottle, as they are ('ODStl'llCllCtl with openings in the bottom thereof comn'mnicating with the holes made in the bottle cap by the engaging prongs.
The object of the invention is to produce a device of this kind, stamped or otherwise produced from a single piece of metal or other suitable material, and which shall be cheap to manufacture, durab e and sanitary, and which may be imprinted withadvertis- .ing matter for free destribution by milk dealers and others,

\Vith these and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain construction and (fOl'lllJlIltliZtOH of parts as will hereinafter be fully described and claimed, and fully illustrated in the aci'zompanying drawing which forms a parthereof and in which like figures of reference refer to corresponding parts in all of the views, but it is to be understood the t slight changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawings The usual milk bottle neck is indicated by the numeral 10; the same being provided with the flange or groove 11, within which is held the regular card boa-rd cap or disk 13.
The cap remover comprises a piece of sheet metal or other suitable material, which is blanked or cut from the sheet and of the shape as shown in Figure 3, and which is adapted to be formed or folded 011 the dotted lines AA, B-B, and C C.
, From this blank the two prongs or cork screw pointslel are sheared or struck up from the blank, and in the positions as shown, and formed from that portion of the blank located between the dotted lines A-B, and CD, and which when formed correspond to theweb 16, each opening from which a prong 14 is sheared being covered by the other part of said web 16, and the prongs 16 projecting as shown in Figures 4 and 5, from that part of the blank forming the bottom 12; said prongs being positioned at diametrically opposite points and being oppositely curved or inclined, for the purpose of entering and engaging the cap 18, when the remover is placed thereon and given a rotary movement by the hand of the oper ator or user; the cap being removed or in sorted by such a rotary or screw movement. 35
For providing a finger grip for the operator or user, the blank is formed with a tubular portion 15 formed from that portion of the blank between the dotted lines BC and joining the two sides of the web 16.'
It will thus be seen that the bottom of the cap remover presents a round flat surface 12 of slightly smaller diameter than that of the cap 13, so that it is readily centered or located in the top of the bottle neck; and 5 from this flat surface, two sharp prongs project at an angle and-pointed in opposite directions; while the upperpart of the cap remover is provided with a finger hold, by which it may be gripped, pressed upon the bottle cap and rotated slightly to insert the prongs into the cap, when by an upward pull the cap is removed from the bottle, or again inserted by a slight downward pressure.
