Description

L. E. BAER NECK'I-IE HOLDER May 2 1929.
Filed Dec. 8; 1928 Patented May 28, 1929.-
UNITED STAES LAWRENCE E. BAER, OF ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS.
} NECKTIE HOLDER.
Application filed December 8 1928. Serial No. 324,678.
' This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in necktie holders, and the primary object thereof is to provide a holder which has rotatable means for engaging the necktie in positioning-and removal of the holder, thereby to facilitate these operations and enable same to be easily and quickly efi'ected and without injury to the necktie.
0 The invention further aims to provide a device of this kind which is of simple and economical construction, and which eanbe easily and quickly produced.
In the drawings tion;
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view;
Figure 3 is a top plan view;-
Figuresr l and 5 are sections on lines 44 and 5-5 of Figure 1.
In proceeding inaccordance with the present invention, the holder is formed of a piece of wire which latter is doubled upon itself intermediate its ends as at 1, thereby forming a jaw having spaced sides 2 and a second jaw having spaced sides 3. The doubled portion 1 is curved outwardly as shown in Figure 1, and the sides 2 of the first named jaw are held in abutting relation by means of a sleeve 4 which may be frictionally applied thereto. The wire is then bent intermediate its 'ends as indicated at 5 so as .to cause the jaws 2 and 3 to be in opposed relation, whereing ad acent connected ends, one o the aws by a Ushaped structure is formed in which the jaws form the sides of the U. The free ends of the sides 3 are curled into ring-like form as indicated at G and are engaged on their outer faces by'a pair of rings 7 For the purpose of holding the rings in position and for also rotatably mounting same, a hollow rivet 8 is projected through the openings of the rings in the curled ends and the ends of the rivet headed as indicated at 9, thereby holding the parts in their assembled relation.
' From the foregoing it will be seen thatthe rings 7 which are of slightly larger diameter thanthat of the curled ends 6 are rotatably mounted with respect to the jaw carrying same, whereby it will be noted that the rings can freely rotate in applying and removing the holder.
'Referring to Figure 4, it will be noted that the sides 2 are disposed at points which register with the lines of abutment of the rings Figure 1 is a side elevation of the in'ven-* creased clamping action which holds the tie with greater security.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent isz' 1. In a necktie holder, a wiredoubled upon itself central of its'ends and the doubled 'portions being bent into U-'forn1 to provide a pair of opposed jaws, each having-a pair of sides,
a sleeve enclosing the sides of one of the jaws to hold same together, the other jaw having free ends which are curled inwardly,
a, ring abutting each of the curledends and a hollow rivet extending through each of the rings and curled ends, having its ends headed outwardly to rotatably hold the rings in position. I
r 2. In a necktie holder,'a pair of jaws hav-' ingadjacent connected ends, one of the jaws having a pair of' curled free ends, a ring engaged with each curled end, and a hollow rivet extendin through the curled ends and rings and having its ends headed to support .the rings for rotation.
3. In a necktie holder, a pair of jaws having adjacent connectedends, one of'the jaws having a pair of curled free ends disposed in side-by-side relation, rings engaged with the curled ends, and means to hold said curled free ends against relative lateral spreading movement and to support the rings for rotation from said curled ends.
4. In a necktie holder, a pair of 'aw's havhaving a pair of curled free ends, a ring engaged with each curled end, and a hollow rivet extending through the curled ends and rings and having its ends headed to support the rings for rotation the other jaw having a pair of spaced sides which latter are located opposite to the adjacent rings and curled ends and align with the confronting inner sides of said rings and curled ends.
- 5. A necktie holder including a pair of opposed connected jaws, one of the jaws having a pair of free ends, rings engaged with said free ends, and means to rotatably support the rings and to hold the free ends substantially in engagement therewith, the other aw having a pair of spaced sides which latter are located opposite to the adjacent rings andfree ends and aline with the points of engagement of the free ends and rings.
6.- In a necktie holder, a-wire doubled up on itself central of its ends and the doubled Q 'portion being bent into U-form to rovide a pair of opposed jaws, with each ,0 the latter having a pair of sides, one of the jaws having; the free ends of each of its sides curle a ring having its center in register withthe centers of said curled ends, and
. means extending through the centers of the tive lateral spreading.
portion being bent into U-form'to provide a pair of opposed jaws, with each ofthe latter having a pair of sides, one of the jaws having the free ends of each of its sides curled, a pair of rings substantially in engagement with said curled ends, and means extending,;throngh v the rings and curled ends to rotatahly support the rings, and to hold the curled ends against relative lateral spreading, the other jaws having its sides substantially alined with the points'of engagement of the rings and curled ends. v v
In testimony whereof I have signed iny name to this specification.
