TOOTHBRUSH HOLDER.
Application filed May 14,
vMy present invention has reference'to a bath room appliance, and is in the nature of a combined tooth brush, tooth paste tube and tumbler holder.
An object is the provision of an article for this purpose, which, while of a simple construction, is of an ornamental nature and which will add to the attractiveness of the place in which it is positioned, and further wherein the heads or bristle ends of the tooth brush supported on the device are received in domes which are preferably transpasent so that the bristles will be protected lron'i dirt and dust as well as from microbes.
A further object is the provision of an article for this purpose which is preferably wholly formed of pressed metal to include a body port-ion which is in the nature of a shelf or plate, formed with an ornamental upstanding back and sides, as well as a depending apron at the front thereof which merges into a bead or ledge, the said plate, at points throughout the length thereof being .formed with semi-circular flanges and the inner walls provided by the openings are notches for the reception of the neck portions of tooth brushes, the flanges having screwed therein inverted` cup or dome members which fully enclose the bristle heads of the brushes, the device being also provided with a holder for a glass and .with a depending comparatively wide hookshaped member that `affords a support for a tube of tooth paste.
rl`he drawings illustrate a satisfactory embodiment of the improvement.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view thereof.
Figure 2 is a sectional view approximately on the line 2 2 of Figure 1.
The improvement is preferably of metal and may be stamped or otherwise shaped to provide the same with a straight plate or shelf 1. The plate 1 has its ends rounded, and formed with upstanding side flanges 2 and with spaced back flanges 3. The back flanges are provided by gracefully curving these portions of the device and 'these flanges are reinforced by grooving the same from the outer face thereof to afford inwardly extending beads 4. The front of the plate 1, kat the center thereof, is extended outwardly to afford the same with a rounded portion and the said front including the rounded portion thereof is beaded to form 1927. Serial No. 191,450.
plate and has secured thereon and extended upwardly therefrom an ornamented annular portion 7 that affords a holder for a glass or tumbler. The upper edge of the tumbler support 7 is beaded and the body thereof is preferably cut away to form the same with leg portions 8 whose outer edges are rounded away from each other, and the said legs may be and preferably are provided withv openings of ornamental designs.
Between the back portions 3 and the body plate or shelf 1 there are integrally formed reinforcing ribs 9 and above these ribs the back port-ions are provided with openings 10 for the reception of means whereby the device may be attached to a vertical support.
Below the tumbler holder the back of the plate 1 is extended downwardly and from thence rounded upwardly to form the same with a comparatively wide hook-like portion 11 that affords afsupport for a tube 12 for a tooth paste.
The plate 1, to the opposite sides of the tumbler holder 7, has equidistantly spaced semi-circular openings 13 therethrough, and the inner stra-ight walls of these openings has substantially key-hole notches 14 therein. The portions of the plate provided with the openings 13 and notches 14 are preferably depressed from the plate, the said depressed portions providing annular flan es 15 which project a slight but suitable istanee above the face of the plate 1, thus forming the plate with annular ribs that add to the ornamentality thereof. The flanges 15 have their inner portions preferably threaded, and screwed in these flanges 15 there are inverted cup or dome-sha d members 17. The members 17 are pre erably of glass or other transparent material, and the said members are designed to serve as protectors for the bristle heads of the tooth brushes 18 when the latter are inserted through the openings 13 and the neck portions thereof are brought into the notches 14.
My improvement provides a sanitary protector for the tooth brush as Well as a separate compartment for the several tooth brushes. The tooth brushes may be readily inserted andeifectively supported on the im provem'entf The protector cups or domes 17 prevent dust or dirt contacting with the bristle heads of the brushes and, of course, prevent the spreading of germs from one to another brush. The device while of a simple is preferablyrformed of pressed metal, vI do I not Wish to 'be limited to the employment of this particular material, as I may find it desirable to mould the same of porcelain or to construct the improvementl of other materials.
Having described the invention, I claim :7
In an article of the class described, a plate having upstanding flanges on the sides and end thereof and a depending'front flange, said plate'and ianges having rein-forcing beads, Y said plate having an annular depressed portion, the lower wall of which being provided with a semi-circular opening and the straight wall formed by the opening having a key-hole notch and an inverted transparent dome screwed inthe npstanding flanges and surrounding the semi-circular opening and notch.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature.
