This invention relates to the class of harness and pertains particularly to a new and improved type of breeching D.

he primary object of the present invention is to provide a D so formed that all of the straps attached thereto will be kept in position and free from engagement with one another.

Another object of the present invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a harness breeching D wherein is provided an improved means for attaching a breeching strap thereto.

A further object of the present invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, an improved harness breeching D of simple but strong and durable construction, of neat appearance and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

Numerous other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent as the description of the same proceeds and the invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawing but may be changed or modified so long as such changes or modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claim.

Referring now to the drawing in detail,

' wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the present improved breeching D comprising a main body portion 1 which includes the rounded forward end 2 and the side leg portions 3, the endsof the legs terminating in transversely apertured heads 1927. isrial No. 195,781.

Through the apertures of the heads V of the legs 3 there is extended a screw 5 and one side of one of the legs has a set screw 6 threaded thereinto which engages one end of the screw 5 and maintains the same securely in position. Surrounding the screw5 is a sleeve 7 which has projecting from the wall thereof mid-way between the ends of the same, the tapered tongue 8, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described. Formed integral with the legs 3 and extending between the same in spaced parallel relation to the sleeve is a guard ,bar 9, while formed upon the inner side of each of the legs is a curved guard bar 10,- one end of each of which joins its adjacent leg adjacent the cross bar 9 while the other end of each of the side guard bars l0 joins the main body of the device, adacent the forward and curved portion thereof as clearly shown in Figure 2.

With the breeching D embodying the present invention, strap 11 is passed through the space between the guard bar 9 and the sleeve 7 and turned over the sleeve in the usual manner,

in use, the breeching the tongue 8 forming a part of. thesleeve 7 I being located in the looped portion of the breeching strap and acting to prevent the sleeve 7 from turning. One of the hip straps 12 engages one leg of the D passing between the same and the adjacent side guard bar 10 while a lazy strap 13 engages over the other leg of the D between the adjacent side bar 10 and the inner side of the leg as shown in Figure 1. The side strap 14 of the harness outfit engages around the forwardly directed curved portion 2 of the D in the usual manner.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that each of the four straps which are attached to the harness D is maintained in fixed posi-. tion and are prevented from coming in contact with one another by reason of the guard bars 9 and 10 and in addition to this the breeching strap 11 which engages the sleeve 7 has the tongue portion 8 of thesleeve arranged in the loop thereof, as above described, to prevent turning of the sleeve within the loop.

From the foregoing description, it will be readily seen that a breeching D of materially improved structure has been perfected which has many improved advantages amongst which are improved appearances over any other devices of this type at present in use. r o 7 Having thus described my What I claim is:

As a new article of manufacture, a harness breeching D comprising a main body invention,

portion including a forwardly directed curved end and rearwardly extending converging side legs, a pin connection between the ends of said legs, a sleeve mounted upon said pin, a transversely extending guard bar uniting the legs adjacent to but spaced from said pin, and inwardly extending curved guard bars formed at the ends integral With said legs and spacedtherefrom intermediate the ends, all of said guard bars being arranged Within the main body portion.
