UNITED. STATES CHARLES LOBBER, OF BLOOMFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
IDENTIFICATION KEY PLATE.
Application filed June 12,
This invention relates to key holders and has special reference to a key holder combined with an advertising and registering til I Fine important object of the invention is to provide a simple form of key holder Whichwill serve to support a number of keys and will also provide an attractive advertising medium for hotels, department stores and other institutions desiring to keep their business promincn tly before the public.
A further important object of the invention is to provide a key holder of novel construction adapted to be used in connection with registering sets of keys so that, if lost, the keys may be returned to the owner.
v With the above and other objects in View as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of, construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed. p
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and: I
Figure 1 is an enlarged. face view of one form of key holder constructed in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 22 of Figure 1, the key hook being shown in full lines on one side of the support and in dotted lines on the other side thereof.
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 1 showing a second form of key holder.
Figure 4 is a section on the line 41 of Figure 3 but showing how one key hook may be arranged on one side of the supporting plate and another on the opposite side.
Figure 5 is a detail section showing the swiveling head on the ring.
Figure 6 is a faceview of a third form of key holder to an enlarged scale.
Figure 7 .is a side view of a third form.
Figure 8 is a face view of a fourth form.
In the forms of the device shown in Figures 1 to i there is provided a flat plate 10 which may be of metal, celluloid, or othersuitable material, the plate being preferably rectangu- 1928. Serial No. 284,732.
lar in shape. In Figures 1 and 2 the form there disclosed is provided with openings near one of its shorter edges which are reinforced by eyelets 11 while in Figures 3 and 4 similar'openings are arranged in pairs, the openings of each pair being closed together and provided'with eyelets 12.
In the form of the device shown in Figures 6 to 8 there is provided a metal plate 13 having one end straight and rolled over to form a tubular bead whichis slit at one or more placesas indicated at 14 to provide one or more ring receiving eyes 15. The other end of this plate is provided with a key hole slot 16 for attachment of the plate to a trousers button or the like. Each of these forms is employed witha key holder consisting of a ring 17 having a radially extending shank 18 on which is swiveled a keyhook 19, the portion of the shank extending through the hook being flattened as at 20 to prevent separation of the hook and ring. v
In Figure 1 each ring 17 is engaged. in a respective opening as clearly shown in that Figure. Now, these openings being near the top the hook can lie on one side or the other of the plate 10 as clearly shown in Figure 2, being simply swung to either side. In the form shown in Figures 3 and 4 each ring is engaged through a pair of eyelets and may be positioned on either side of the'plate 10 but cannot be shifted from one side to the other. In the forms shown in Figures 6 to 8 the ring is engaged in the respective eye 15.
In each of these forms there may be provided on one or both faces of the plate advertising matter as indicated at 21 and a registration number as indicated at 22.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the material spirit thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention, What ring extending through said pair of openis claimed as new, is: ings, a key hook swiveled to said ring, and 10 1. In combination, a stiff supporting plate eyelets in said openings reinforcing the edges having a pair of openings formed therein, a of the openingsand through which said ring 5 ring extending through said pair of openpasses.
ings, and a key hook swiveled to said ring. In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
2. In combination, a stifi supporting plate a 7 having a pair of openings formed therein, a CHARLES LORBER.
