IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE S HELVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 171,146, dated December 14, 1875; application filed April 8, 1875.
nying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a stove-pipe shelf, as will be hereinafter more fully set In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a view of a detailed part thereof.
A represents the stove-pipe, around which is a collar made in two semicircular parts, B B, united at their ends by bolts (0 a, so as to be held firmly around the same. The front part B of the collar is provided at each end With an overlapping hook, I), to hook over the edge of the shelf, and on the center of said front collar part B is a perforated projecting arm, 61.
The shelf 0 may be made of any suitable dimensions, with a semicircular recess in the center of its rear. edge, to fit around the stovepipe, and the shelf is further provided with a pin, 6, on the under side.
The shelf is placed on the front part B of the collar by putting the back edge of the shelf under the hooks b b, and dropping the front edge of the shelf so that the pin 6 enters the hole in the arm don the center of the collar, thus holding the shelf securely in place, and still leaving it so that it is easily taken 011' and put on, as desired.
At the front edge of the shelf is hinged a cover, D, made in the form of an inverted pan, the hinges of said cover being formed with projecting arms ff, extending at such angles as to bear against the under side of the pan, and hold the cover in proper position when thrown open.
The rear part B of the pipe-collar is pro vided with a series of radiating arms, h h, to form a clothes-drier.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is V 1. The combination, with the stove-pipe (1, of the hinged cover D and the arms f f, projecting from the hinges thereof, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The combination of the bisected collar B B, provided with hooks b b, and perforated arm d, the shelfO, with pin 0, hinged cover D, and arms ff, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
Intestimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. LANGDON.
