BOX HOLDER AND OPENER.
Application filed March 7, 1924. Serial No. 697,628.

A represents the box, and B its cover,
0 is a metal band nearly surrounding the box A and terminating in projections or arms, C, C, which are drawn together by 2 the winged bolt F, which tightens the band C, around the box whereby said band is rendered adjustable to boxes of differing diameters, thus the band C and its projections C, C, and bolt F constitute the holder of the box A. D is a lever in posit-ion for operation to lift off the cover B, having its short end in the form of a hook G, which can be projected under the edge of the cover B.
Said lever D, is connected by the links E, E, and pin H, to the bolt F, which. together form a toggle jointed lever the object of which is not only to produce a powerful leverage for removing the cover B from the box A, but to increase the motion of the hook Gr, and cause it to follow in a straight parallel line with the side of said box.
It will be noted that the band or holder 0 instead of being a complete ring is divided on one side to form an opening on each side of said opening and is outwardly turned to' torm arms 0, (l 'which are each perforated to receive a wing bolt F, and that said band is by the operation of said bolt readily adjusted to securely hold boxes or containers of varying diameters. This construction permits repeated and continuous use of my holder for boxes and containers of varying diameters.
What I claim as my invent-ion and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
A box holder and opener the character shown and described, the same consisting of an annular band open on one side and provided oneach side of said opening with an outwardly projecting ear, each of said ears being perforated, a wing bolt fitted in said perforations and arranged and adapted to serve both as a 'pivotanda fulcrum for toggle jointed lever comprising a lever and a link pivoted thereon.
