The object of our invention is simplifying the construction of stroppers of wellknown type as hereinafter set forth, having our improvements embodied therein.

1 is the casing body, preferably stamped out of sheet metal from the flat and formed in such shapes as shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 2, and Fig. 3, the edges'being joined together as shown at 2 in said'figures bystaggered intermeshing projections. 3 is the head of the operating end ofthe casing. 4 is the head of the blade insertion end of the casing. We have found that the blade holder can be cheaply and very successfully stamped when formed from sheet metal; and in doing this we provide a handle 22 formed to lay parallel with the razor blade when in position to indicate its position within the stropping machine when I a withdrawal of the same is desired. 23 and operating 24 are projectionsto register with the holes in the razor blade for positioning purposes. Portions 25 and 26 are cylindrical formed surfaces, or guides,.for operating within double slotted tube 27. 28 is a projecti'on acting as a stop in the withdrawal of the blade holder to limit itsmovement outward, the same bringing up against thehead on the inside. In cylindrical portion 26 undercut 29 is made to facilitate the holding 1 of the blade in withdrawal. Projection 30 is formed with a similar undercut.

. said slots being open to the end ofsaid tube cured at one end which end revolves in head 4 as a-bearing, and whichhead is provided with opening 32 to permit the withdrawal of the blade, the other end of said tube being se-. to blade reverse cam spiral 20 and is operated thereby. Said reverse cam spiral '20 is journalled in a depression in end 3 of the casing and is provided, with an exterior washer secured to said spiral to prevent relatively 'endwise displacement, but permitting rotation. .Bridge 17 operates said spiral 20 two surfaces are shown, but three or more may be used, if deslred. Having thus described our invention, what we ,claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A razor stropper comprlsing a stropping roll, a tube forming a mounting shaft therefor, a spiral cam rod reciprocable to rotate sald roll, a shuttle washer having a perforation to surround-the spiral cam rod and having inward projectionsito engage the grooves of the cam, the roller mounting tube also passing through said perforation and'slotted to permit said projections of said shuttle washer to pass therethrough and so that-the tube may slide axially through said shuttle washer, but may also be rotated thereby, one' of said slots extending to the end of said tube to permit ready assembly by threading of the spiral cam rod and tube through said shuttle washer; 1

A. razor stropper comprising, stropping rolls, mounted upon tubes, within which telescope spiral cam reds shuttle washers having apertures with inward projections engaging the grooves of the spiralcam rods and'also passing through slots'initheprojecting ends of the roller mounting tubes, a bridge-plate having apertures re'giste ring with those of the shuttle washers and overhanging flanges which position and retain saidshuttle-washers in contact with one side of bridge-plate.
