IMPROVEMENT IN lRONlNG-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,837, dated December 7, 1875; application filed October 25, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JoHN FINFROOK, of Piqua, in the county of Miami and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Folding Ironing-Stand; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same,'reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in Which Figure 1. is a side elevation Fig.2, a plan view.
The invention relates to the manufacture of stands, so that garments can be conveniently manipulated in the process of ironing, and so that the frames may be readily folded up and packed away in a small space.
The invention will first be described in connection With drawing, and then pointed out in the claims.
A represents a stand, consisting mainly of two posts or pillars, a a, connected by a twopart rail, b b, hinged or jointed at f, so as to turn laterally. The posts rest upon feet 0 c, and, if desired, there may be an additional one, 0, on the connection b. g g are cross-bars or plates, one upon the top of each post a, to support the ends of ironing-board D, which has an open-end slot, d. h is a clamping screwbolt, that works in cross-bar g.
By means of the open-end slot the board may be placed under the head of screw-bolt, or removed therefrom, with convenience and rapidity, While the frame-work that supports it may be folded together onthe joint f.
When a garment is to be arranged on the board in order that it may be ironed, the end of the jointed stand at the foot of board is moved around, the garment adjusted, and the end of stand thrown back under the board for support. Thus the joint subserves two purposes, and the stand becomes a great saver of JOHN FINFROCK.
