Description

prfl 9, l929. E, B, DELLMUTH L'SEES V DISPLAY DEVICE Filed July 28, 1927 Patented tapis 9, ll
ENOS B. DELLMUTH, 0F CAMDEN, NEN JERSEY, ASSEGNOR TO C. HOWARD HUNT .PEN COMPANY, A CORPGRATION @E 'NEW' JERSEY,
DSPLAY DEVIL'CE.
Application led July 28,
My invention relates to an improvement in display devices and more particularly to a device adapted tor the display ot price cards in connection with articles displayed in bins.
Heretofore various devices have been produced Yl'or displaying price cards, but such devices have not given complete satisfaction chiefly for the reason that they are readily displaceable and under conditions of use become wholly or partially displaced, with the result that they either wholly tail to perform their Jjunction or promote confusion.
Now, in accordance with my invention, l provide a device adaptable for the support oit price tags with relation to goods which may be readily secured to a bin, or other support tor the goods having a free edge, will be substantially displaceable under ordinary conditions when in place and at the same time will be readily removable.
Having now indicated, in a general way, the nature andpurpose of my invention, l will proceed to a detailed description et a preferred embodiment thereof with reference tothe accompanying` drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a front view of a display device embodying my invention attached to a bin shown in fragment.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 2 2, Fia. l.
Fig. 3 is a. perspective view of a number ot bins with display devices embodying my invention and supporting price tags in place* Fig. 4 is a rear view of the subject of liig. l.
In the several Iigures (t indicates a cylindrical spring within which are a pair ot jaws Z, forming a spring clip. The jaws l) are adapted to be actuated to closed position by the spring a and are provided with linger grips e by which the jaws may be opened against the action of the spring.
Secured intermediate its ends to one ott the linger grips is a card holder d, the sides and one end oit which are bent over to forno grooves tor the retention ot a card.
Tongues e are cut out of the body of the holder (Z adjacent its ends and extended at an angle to the holder. rllhe end portions of the tongues e are bent at an angle to form hooks e2 1927. SeraI No. 202,973.
ln. the use ol the device embodying my invention, assuming that .goods w to be priced are contained in one ot the bins formed by walls i, a card bearing the price is inserted in the holder and the jaws b separated, against the action o1" spring e, and then engaged, under the action of spring a, with one of the walls i/ of the bin adjacent its tree edge and 1n such a position that the ears e will engage the edge ot' the wall, with their hooked end portions e extending beyond the edge.
lt will now be observed that the holder will be secured to the wall of the bin by the action of spring a and jaws and that the holder will be held in alignment by the engagement ot ears e with the edge ot the wall.
twill be understood that the device according to my invention may be utilized to support any desired torni ot display and that it may be secured to any torni of support, as tor example, a shelf, affording a tree edge portion for engagement by the jaws l) and an edge tor engagement by the ears e.
Having `now fully described my invention, what l claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is l. A display device comprising a spring clip adapted to engage a support having a free edge, a display holder secured to the clip, and a pair oi" tongues cut out of the body oit' the holder and extending at an angle thereto and in alignment with the clip whereby they are adapted to engage the free edge oi the support engaged by the clip. Y I l 2. A display device comprising a spring clip adapted to engage a support having a tree edge, a display holder secured to the clip, and a pair ot tongues cut out of the body of the holder and bent to ilorni hooks in alignment with the clip whereby they are adapted to engage the tree edge ot' the support engaged by the clipa A display device comprising a spring clip adapted to engage a support having a tree edge and provided with a pair ot' grips, a display holder' secured intermediate its ends to one ci" said grips, and a pair ot tongues 'formed Ltrom the body et said holder adjacent its ends and extending at an angle thereto and in alignment with the clip whereby they are adapted to engage the free edge of the support engaged by the clip.
if* 4. A display device comprising a, spring im clip ladapted to engage a support', having a free edge and provided With a. pail' of grips,
l a display beider secured intermediate its 5 ends to one of said grips, and a pair o'i tongues formed from the body of sai-d holder adjacent its ends and bent to form hooks' in alignment with the clip whereby they are adapted to engage the free edge of the support engaged by the clip.
in testimony ei which invention, have heieunto set my hand et Camden, New J e1'- seyr, en this 7th day of July, 1927. r ENOS B, DELLMUTH.
