ERNST PETEESGN, OF RQCKFORD, ILLIIQ'C IS.
CIGARETTE, MATCH, AND CIGAR DISPENSER AND Application filed July 29,
This invention relates to an improved cigarette, match, and cigar dispenser, and has for one of its principal objects the provision of means whereby a cigar or a cigarette can be dispensed from a case convenient to the hand of the operator or user, by a simple manual operation.
One of the important objects of this invention is to provide, in a combinationcigar,
cigarette, and match dispenser, means for keeping the cigars and cigarettes in a receptacle which keeps the same clean, and which also may be used as a humidor, it desired, and from which the cigars or cigarettes, together with a match for lighting the same, may be dispensed at a singleoperation.
Still another and further important object of this invention is the provision, in a combination cigarette and match dispenser, of means for dispensing from a receptacle a cigar or cigarette and a match, convenient to the hand of the operator, and at the same time raising the lid or cover of the device so as to make the cigarette and match conveniently available.
ther and further important objects of the invention will be apparent from the disclosures in the accompanying drawings and following specification.
The invention, in a preferred form, is illustrated in the drawings and hereinafter more fully described.
in the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved cigarette, cigar, and match dispenser of this invention.
Figure 2 is a, vertical section through the device, showing the operating portions.
Figure 8 is another vertical section, taken at right angles to the view shown in Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view, showing particularly the operation of the cover raising mechanism.
7 As shown in the drawings: 7
The reference numeral 10 indicates a case or receptacle forming the main body of the improved dispenser of this invention, which may be made in any convenient or desired shape, for utilitarian or ornamental purposes. This is preferably supported on a pedestal or the like 12.
I Positioned. in the casing 10 are two or more V-shaped receptacles, formed by the insertion in the casing of properly shaped blocks of wood or the like l hwhich recep- FSMOKING STAIJD.
1527. Serial No. 209,244.
I position a pluoi' cigarettes or cigars l", and a pluralmatchcs 18. A perating upwardly through the bottom or each oi the V-shaped receptacles is a dispensing element 20 in the form 01 a s "able ionber, composed of wood or other suitable material, and which has mounted in the bottom thereof a loop 22 or" wire or the like, extending siightly downwardlv from the lower edge of the member 20, as best shown in Figure 3.
Gperating in each of these loops 22 is a rod or lever 2% affixed to a rotatable shaft 26, which is operated by means of a knurled knob or the like 28 positioned on the out side of the casing 10. .The ends of the operating levers 2% are bent into horizontal po sition, as shown at 30, so as to co-operate with the lower edges of the dispensing members 20.
It will be obvious that when the knob 28 is turned the shaft 26 will rotate, raising the levers 2 1- and causing the dispensing elements 20 to move upwardly into V-shaped receptacles, pushing a cigar or cigarette and a match upwardly through slots 32- formed in the covers 34 of the V-shaped receptacles.
Also mounted in the shaft 26 is a pair of cover raising levers 40, which are preferably formed of flexible but strong steel wire or the like, and which, when the knob 28 is turned, operate to push the cover 42 of the casing 10 upwardly about its hinges 44, thereby making the dispensed cigarette or cigar and match available for delivery.
At the ends of the casing 10 are provided additional receptacles 50, having hinged covers 52, these receptacles being provided for the containing of an additional supply of cigars or for a supply of cigarettes 54 in the event that cigarettes only are dispensed by the action of the mechanism above described.
Proper humidizing means may be placed in the receptacles for the cigars and cigarettes, if desired.
At each side oi the casing 10 is provided a hinged door 60, each of which opens downwardly into the position shown in Figure 2, forming ash tray.
This, when cleaned out, can be readily closed into the position shown in the left hand side of igure 2 or in Figure 1, and it will be evident that herein is provided a compact, readily operated and convenient "cover; the dispensing levers comprisingmeans of dispensing cigars or Cigarettes and matches to a user or. consumer, and which at the same time forms a complete smoking stand With ash tray and other appurtenances, besides being qu1te ornamental.
I am aware that many changes may be made andnumerous details of construction 1. A combined cigarette and match dis-' penser, comprising a casing, a plurality of receptacles in the casing,' means movable through the receptacles for singly dispens ing cigarettes and matches at one operation,
a hinged cover'on the casing, and means operated by the dispensing means for raising said cover, said cover raising and dispensing r meanscomprising a shaft rotatably mounted in the casing, a manually operated knob on theendof the shaft at the side of the casing and levers mounted in the shaft for operating the dispensing elements and raising the short, "relatively stilt rods having their ends bent to co-operate with the bottoms of the dispensing means.
2. A combinedcigarette and match dis- 'penser, comprising a casing, a plurality of receptacles in the casing, means movable through the receptacles for singly dispens ing cigarettes andmatches at one operation,
a hinged cover on the casing, and means operated by the dispensing meansfor raising said cover, said cover-raising and dispensing means comprising a shaft rotatably mounted in the casing, a manually operated knob on the end ofthe shaft at theside of the casing, and levers mounted in the shaft t'or'operating the dispensing elements and raising the cover, the dispensing leve'rscomprisin short, relatively stifi'rods having their ends bent to co-operate with the bottoms-of the dispensingmeans, and the cover raising levers comprising long, relatively flexible metal rods a'l'lixed to the shaft at one end and pivotally connected to'the cover at their other ends. 7
Intestimony whereof I attix' my signature.
