DISPLAY DEVICE.
Application filed April 9,
The present invention relates to improvements in display devices, and has foran ob-' ject to provide a device for the display of price cards, tags and the like in which the de-- vice is constructed either for mounting upon a shelf or other support, or upon'a counter, in a store window, or upon other fiat support.

and 3, the device is madefroma single piece i of "sheet metal a bent and shaped to i provide clamp arms or members Sland 3% which are shown in Figures 1, 2 and3- as engaging the upper andlower-surfaces of a support 83,
such for instance'as a shelf; These clamptw members are bent-into substantially parallel and sp acedrelationfrom the sheet metal body 1 'part or panel '3t having'upper and lower o flanges 35 and 36 which provide guideways to receive aca-rdwhen slidhorizontally there'- in as indicated inFigure 4:. The fianges'are made integral with thesheet'metal body and the'upper flange is a continuationiof theup-"i per portion of the panel'and is preferably'of of-the panel so as "to make'it easier to slide-a card into' place This flange is turned out-l wardly and downwardly to provide the-guide way;
Thelowenfiange36 is cutror stam'pedout from'the metal lying in the lower clamp-men];-

These points of connection increase the flexibility of the hinging or resilient connection 'beshelf 33, the clamp member 31 will lie upon the upper surface'of the shelf 33.
Figure 4 shows a device with a price card 39 in placebetween the flanges'35- and 36. This card, in this instance, is of a height to be received slidably betweentheflanges, but may be much wider than the holder and this is permissible because of the lack or" any stops or abutments for the card. The card is shown in Figure 5 in section as fitting tightly within the guideways, although freedoin of movement is permitted in sliding horizontally.
In Figures 6 to 10, inclusive, the upper-edge '40 of the cut out portion of the panel is rounded and as shown in Figure 10, the rear or free edge of theupper clamp member 31 is likewise rounded. The clamp members are the same in this form of the invention, butin addition a hanger strip 42 is shownas formed 5 with the upper portion ofthe panel and as bent backwardly so that it may engage with a shelf indicated at 44, or with a head 43 on a "shelf. The hanger strip 42 and the upper flange 35 may be formed together by stamp ing thefla-nge 35- out of the hanger strip-42 and bending the two in opposite directions.
Figures 11 and 12 show a similar formof device with similar parts indicated by the" same reference numerals. These devlces have additional side clips 45 and 46 shown as inte gral with the panel andibent forwardly and over toward the panel. The clips 45 and 46 are adapted to receive the lower reduced part 47 of a card having an enlarged head'part 48 for the display of a legend orlmessagei In this case the lower edge of the card .is shown as fitted into the lower flange 36-, but the card is much higherthan the device and much too high to be received in'the upper flange 35, so
and is retained at its side portions in the clips 45and46. g
In Figure'13 a rectangular card 49 is shown of'much greater size than'the holding device. In this case the card may be received in a holder such as shown in Figure 1, the card simply'resting in the lower flange 36; I In Figures 14 and '15- a holder, such as shown in. Figures 1, 2 and 3, is'illustrated,

rounded free edges.
In this instance the clamp arm or member 32 i is shown as upon the top surface of the shelf, While the companion clamp member is upon the lower side thereof.
Figure 16 shows a holder similar to that illustrated in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the holder being shown as resting upon a flat supporting surface. In the position shown in Figure 16 the panel of the holder is shown at an inclination to thevertical; The panel may, however, be vertical if desired. A large card 49,
such as is shown in Figure 13, may be laid gainst the upper flange 35 and remain in p0 'sition. i V
Figure 17 shows another positionthat the holder ma assume on a flat en 3 ortin surface. Here the panel is shown as supported 7 upon one edge and upon the clamp member 31.
The panel is shown as resting in an inclined position and may receive any size card, the
Figures 19 and 20 show theup'per clamp member 31. and the lower flange 36 with substantially V-shaped slot 53' forming claws 54 and-55 which will enable a better In this form no upper clamp member is usedbut side clips 50'and The device is also shown as provided with a i hang ng member 52 of narrow form havmg roe grip to be'had upon a supporting surface and the \J- haped slot may extend about the shank of a tack, nail, screw or other fastening, while the head may engage the claws 54 and'55 and thus hold the device in place. I
Figure 21 shows a device as in Figure 1,
except that the device is supported upon its side and the flanges 35 and 36 are disposed to receive a price card 56 vertically slid therein. In this position of the device a card of any height may be supported, and the card may i be of the shape shown in Figure 11. I I
Figure 22 shows a device s1m1lar to Figures 19 and 20 except-that in Figure 22 an upper flange 57 is stamped out and bent down from the panel of the device. The device shown in Figure 22 may be held in an inverted position on a shelf and a card may be held in place by that it 18 placed outwardly ofthe upperfiange the side clips 50 and 51 and supported by the flange 57. It is obvious that a cardof the ure 22.
In Figures 23 and 24 "a device such as is shown in Figure 22 is illustrated but without the side clips 50 and 51.
Figures 25 to 29, inclusive, show a device also smaller to that shown 111 Figure 22 with similar parts bearing the same reference symbols. An additional supporting foot 58 is shown as provided in the forms illustrated in Figures to 29. This supporting foot extends forwardly and in combination with the rear clamping member 32 provides a firm and strong base. The foot 58 is stamped and bent from the material of the lower clamp member 32 and the lower flange 36 is in turn stamped out of the foot 58 andbent upwardly.
Figure is a view similar to Figure 1 but with the hanger member 52 of Figures 19 and 20 applied thereto.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of eonstruction and design of the above specifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof.
I reserve the right to make all such changes and modifications as come Within the scope'of tl e following claims.
lVhat is claimed is: r r
1. A display device comprising a panel, clamp members extending rearwardly from the lower portion of the panel, a foot member stamped from the material of the lower clamp member and bent forwardly of the plane'of the panel, a lower flange stamped from the ber stamped from the material of said first T named member and bent to the opposite side of the plane of the panel toalso engage the support, and a card holding means stamped from the material of the foot member and,
bent upwardly therefrom.
3. A display device comprising a panel, ai claw bent rearwardlyfrom the upper portion of the panel, a member bent from the lower portion of the panel and adapted to engage a supporting surface, a foot member stamped from the material of the last mentioned member and bent forwardly of the plane of the panel, and a card holding means stamped from the material of the foot and bent upwardly therefrom.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
