IMPROVEMENT IN CARRIAGE-CURTAINS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,291, dated November 23, 1875; application filed October 16, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY O. MOODY, of Oswego, in the county of Oswego and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Front-Curtain Attachment to Ghilds Carriage, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a shade or curtain attachment to the front bow of a childs carriage, for excluding the sun and rain thereout, the said curtain being divided at the center,
- and connected at each outer edge and the top to the bow by a cord or string, or button-holes in the curtain and studs or buttons on the bow, the arrangement being such that the curtain is free to slip up and down on the bow, which it must do in folding up to the bow for opening, on account of the curved shape of the bow, to which the folded curtain must conform.
Figure l is a front elevation of a carriagetop having the curtains attached according to my invention. and Fig. 2 is an elevation of the rear side of the bow, having the curtains attached.

A is the bow of the carriage, B the curtains,
O the cords, D the studs or tacks by which the cords are attached to the bow for attachingthe curtain thereto, and E the fasteners to secure the curtains to the bow. One end of the cord of each curtain is fastened to the stud at the top of the bow, and wound around the intermediate studs and tied to the lower one by a bow-knot or any other approved tie, thus connecting the'curtain so that it can be readily taken off at any time,-and be as readily attached again, and, at the same time, allowing it to slip up and down on the bow. The curtain may also have button-holes contrived to button on the studs and hold it down permanently when'it is not to be folded up to the bow, or they may be used in place of the cord to attach the curtains to the bow.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and'desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the curtains B, provided with a fastening-cord, (J, with the-bow A, having studs D, as and for the purpose set forth.
