To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRED H. LYsoNs, a citizen of the United States of America,and resident of Seattle, in the county of King and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Baby-Hammocks, of which the following is specification.

A My invention'relates to hammock beds or cots intended more particularly forthe use of babies, and also particularly intended for use upon automobiles.

The object of my invention is to provide a means whereby a child may be comfortably and safely carried upon an automobile without the necessity'of having to hold the child in somebodys arms or on a lap, and a means which :will also furnish effective protection against] winds and the sun.

My invention comprises the novel parts and combinations which will be hereinafter described and particularly defined-in the claims. 1

Near each end of the lower bar 6 ofthis frame the wire is doubled upon itself and bent intoshape to form a hook 61 the shape of which isclearly shown in FigsBand 5.

The end pieces 5 are secured to the bottom 1 from the rear of the latter to a point 51, which is somewhat back from the forward edge of the bottom. The outer lower corner of the flap 5 is provided, at 52, with one part of a securing means as, for instance, spring buttons or fasteners, the other part of which is secured to the bottom 1, so that it may be secured at this point, or left free, as is shown at the left hand end of Fig. 1. Additional securing. means may be provided if desired, as has been shown in the loose flap of Fig. l.

The depending curtain 1 is not fixedly secured to the end sections 5, but is provided with securing members 40 of any suitable character analogous to those described at 52, whereby itslower corners may be secured to the. end sections 5. p

The stiffening bar 10, at the forward or outer edge of the bottom, has straps, or other analogous members8, secured thereto, whereby it may be connected with any convenient and suitable'part of the automo bile for support. Short straps 11 are also provided, which are secured at one end to the bottom 1, but have a sectioncorrespond, ing with the width from the point 51 to th bar 10, which are not secured to the bottom. The buckle 13 is secured to the bar 10, whereby the width of the bottom may be adjusted by tightening these belts,thus-forming the fold 14, as has been shown in Fig. 3.

I prefer to provide pockets at the under side of the bottom section 1, the same being formed by stitching the edges of a piece of fabric 16 to the bottom along three sides,

' this being done in such a way that the pocket will depend somewhat. The ends of the pocket may be secured with hooks and eyes, spring fasteners or any other suitablemeans. I have herein shown three such pockets, two

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secureby Letters Patent of the United States of Amer- 10a, is:-

' 1. In a device of the character described, a supporting sheet, a stiffening frame secured along one side of the sheet and having means for. engagement with a supporting memberand also having a canopy supporting member, a canopy, a stiffening bar engaging the outer edge of the canopy, and supporting posts supporting the ends of said bar from the said sheet.
