This invention relates to trousers, but more particularl for its -ob ect to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth a trouser leg constructed and arranged in a manner to enable for expeditiously increasing the length thereof when desired.

A further object of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, 'a trouser leg of the cuff type, const-ructed and arranged in a manner to expeditiously increase the length of the leg without decreasing the width of the cuff.

With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodlment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which fall within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawings, 1 denotes a trousers leg of the cuff type. The cloth at 'the outer end of the leg 1 is provided in a manner to form an inwardly directed fold, plait or overlap 2 which extends from a bend 3 and opposes the outer face of the leg 1. The overlap 2 merges into a bend 4 from which extends an outwardly directed fold or plait 5 of greater width than the overlap 2. The fold or plait 5 merges into a bend 6 from which extends an inwardly directed intermediate fold or plait 7 of greater width than the fold or plait 5. The fold or plait 7 projects a substantial distance inwardly with respect to the bend at and merges into a bend 8 which terminates in an outwardly directed fold or plait 9 of greater width than the fold or plait 7. terminates in a bend 10 which merges into an inwardly directed attaching )ortion 11 which extends between the over ap 2 and fold or plaits 5 and is detachably secured to said overlap 2 and permanently secured to fold or plait 5 by stitching 12 positioned inwardly with respect to the bend 3. The folds or plaits 7, 9 and bends 8, 10 provide the normal cuff or double layer outer fold or plait forming the main part of the cuff as it normally appears before the trousers leg is lengthened. The overlap 2, fold or plait 5 and attaching portion 11 provide means for lengthening the trousers leg without decreasing the width of the cuff or a double layer letout fold or plait interposed between said outer fold and the lower portion of the trouser leg.

By disconnecting the fold or plait 5 from the attaching portion 11 the length of the trousers leg can be extended and when so extended it will appear as shown in Figure 4. The length extended will correspond to the width of the overlap 2.

The trousers leg is what may be termed a tubular portion and as shown has its outer end formed with opposed folds or plaits and an inwardly directed overlap which opposes and is detachably connected to one of the folds or plaits by a row of stitching whereby when said row of stitching is severed the inwardly directed overlap provides a means for increasing the length of the tubular part and the increase in length of the tubular )art corresponds substantially to the width of the overlap.

It is thought the many advantages, of a garment constructed in accordance with this invention, more particularly to the conven' ient and efficient means for lengthening the trousers legs can be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, yet it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What I claim is:

1 1. In a garment a trouser leg, a two-fold cufi' at the outer end thereof, a normally inwardly directed overlap opposing the outer face of the trouser leg and adapted when extended from normal position to increase a the length of the latter, an intermediate fold the width of the cuff.

2; A cufi' for bifurcated garments comprising flat folds or pleats lyin against eachother and against the leg sectlon of the V garment, the upper edge of the outer pleat being above the upper edge of the inner pleat and the lower edge of said outer pleat below the lower edge of the body portion of the leg section.

3. In a garment a trouser leg, a series of folds positioned against each other, surrounding said leg and forming a cuff for the latter, one of said folds providing an extendible overlap normally encompassing the trouser leg, means for permanently connecting an intermediate fold to the inner fold and for detachably connecting the inner fold to the overlap, and one of the inner folds being detachably connected to said I overlapl 4. In a bifurcated garment an adjustable cuff structure of uniform width for increasing the length of a leg thereof and comprising an outer fold, an intermediate fold opposing the latter and in connection therewith providing a cuff, an inner fold of less width than and opposing the intermediate fold, an overlap normally surrounding and carried by the leg and providing in connection with said inner fold an extension for the leg when the overlap is extended from normal, an attaching portion for the outer fold, opposing the inner fold and extendin between the latter and said overlap, an

means for detachably securing said ortion to said overlap and for permanent y connecting it to said intermediate fold.

6. In a bifurcated garment an adjustable cuff structure of uniform width for increasing the length of a leg thereof and comprising an outer fold, an intermediate fold opposing the latter and in connection therewith providing a cufl', an inner fold of less width than and opposing the intermediate fold, an overlap normally surrounding and carried by the leg and providing in connection with said inner fold an extension for the leg when the overlap is extended from normal, an attachingportion for the outer fold, opposing the inner fold and extending between the latter and said overlap, and means for detachably securing said portion tosaid overlapand for permanently connecting it to said intermediate fold, said outer and intermediate folds of greater width than the inner fold and the latter of greater width than said overlap.

7 In a bifurcated garment an adjustable cufi' structure of uniform width for increasing the length of a legthereof and comprising an outer fold, an intermediate fold opposing the latter and in connection therewith providing a cuff, an inner fold of less width than and opposing the intermediate fold an overlap normally surrounding and carried bythe leg and providing in connection with said inner fold an extension for the leg when the overlap is extended from normal, an attaching portion for the outer fod, opposing the inner fold and extending between the latter and said overlap, and means for detachably securing said portion to said overlap and for permanentl necting it to said intermediate fol said outer and intermediate folds of greater width than the inner fold and the latter of greater width than said overlap, and said folds and attaching portion normally rojecting from said overlap and outer en I of the leg.

8. cuff for arments comprising a double layer outer old or leat forming the main part of the cuff ans a double layer let-out fold or leat interposed between said outer pleat and lower portion of the leg of the garment, the pleats being formed from the lower portion of the leg section and the lower edge of the material being secured to Y and between the layers of the let-out fold.
