This invention relates to floor polishing A machines of the general type described and shown in my copending patent filed September 7, 1923, and bearing the Serial Number 661,424. Y
More particularly the invent-ion relates to a floor waxing ,device for use in connection with such machines.
One important object of the invention is to provide an improved device of this kind wherein the wax is distributed and spread evenly on the floor by a novel arrangement of the parts. l
A second object of the invention is to provide a. novel combination of wax emitting device and polishing brush.
A third object of the ,invention is to provide an improved distributing` can or container for such use.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is a plan view of one form of the device.
Figure 2 is a. vertical longitudinal section through the center of the device.
Figure 3 is an end view of the device.
Figure 4 is a plan view of a modified form.
Figure 5 is a vertical longitudinal section of the device as shown in Figure 4.
Figure 6 is an end view of the modified form.
Figure 7 is a detail elevation of the improved can or container, the view showing the slipping cover in section.
In each of the forms here shown there is provided a back member 10 having securing notches 1l at its ends and being provided with a centrally disposed opening 12. In the form shown in Figure 5 the can has a central frusto-conical portion 18 havling a cylindrical lower portion 19 closed at its bottom. This frusto-conical portion is provided with aY collar 20 at its upper end and at the lower end' of the collar there is a top closure 21. Suitable means such as the .bayonet lock 22 hold the neck in the opening 12. In each case escape openings 23 are provided in the side' wall of the can adjacent its bottom.
A cap 24 may be used to close the escape openings for packing or storing.
In use rapid revolution of the can ejects the contents through the openings 23 and the wax thus ejected runs down the bristles and is rubbed on the floor. 'p
Having thus ydescribed the invention, what is claimed as new, is:
1. The combination with a brush back having bristles carried thereby, and having an opening therein, of a waX ldistributing can mounted in said opening and having peripheral escape openings arranged therein in directions transverse to the direction of the bristles for discharging the contents of the can laterally onto the bristles.
2. The combination with a lbrush back having bristles extending outwardly therefrom, and having an .opening therein, of a wax distributing can mounted in said opening and having peripheral escape openings arranged therein in directions transverse to the directiony of the bristles for discharging the wax laterally onto the bristles to be applied thereby to the surface being treated.
3. The combination with a brush head having polish applying media extending outwardly therefrom, and having an open ing therein, v of a waX distributing can mounted in said opening and having a portion thereof protruding therefrom, said protruding portion of the can having an escape opening Varranged therein, in 4a. direction transverse t-o the normal positional direction of the polish applying media.
