PRICE MARKER.
Application filed October 13, 1927. Serial No. 225,936.
The invention relates to improvements in devices for marking goods with the prices asked therefor, and it aims to provide a new and improved article of this character in which a plate for holding either a one-piece price tag or price tag sections, is receivable together with the tag held thereby, in a spring clip on an attaching device for connecting plate and tag with the article on sale, the construction being such that the spring clip not only holds the price tag and its carrying plate upon the article on sale, but tenaciously holds the plate and the tag in proper relation with each other.
With the foregoin in view, the invention resides in the novel su ject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing.
Figs. 1 and 2 are front elevations of the invention showing tags arranged to denote different prices.
Fig. 3 is a detail vertical sectional view on line 3 8 of Fig. 1, one of the price tag sections being partially removed from theholding plate.
Fig. 4 is a front elevation of the tag holding plate.
Fig. 5 is a front elevation of one of price tag sections. y
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the tag and plate attaching device.
The drawing above briefly described, illustrates the preferred form of construction and while this construction will be herein specifically explained, it is to be understood that within the scope of the invention as claimed, variations may be made.
The numeral 7 denotes a tag-holding plate of aluminum or other desired material said plate being provided at suitable points with tongues 8 preferably stamped therefrom and providing means for detachably holdmg a price tag, Whether the latter be formed of one piece or of sections 9-9a. This tag, whether formed of one or more pieces, is by preference constructed from celluloid with a numeral'or numerals printed thereon to denote the price of an article upon which the tag isfto be displayed. j
An attaching device 10 is provided for the plate 7 and the price tag, said attaching dethe vice preferably consisting of a single length of wire bent to provide two attaching arms and a coil l1 connecting said arms, said coil constituting a spring clip. Into this clip, the plate 7 and the price tag are forced, so that they may be held in proper position upon the produce or other goods on sale, and attention is invited to the fact that the clip 11 also tightly clamps the tag against the plate 7 to 60 prevent accidental disengagement of the two. When the tag is of sectional form as shown, the clip engages theabutting edges of said sections and thus holds the latter properly in place. o i
The edge of the plate 7 to be engaged with the clip 11, is free of tag-holding means such as the tongues 8 and hence when said plate and the tag are disengaged from said clip, the tag or tag sectlons previously held by the plate 70 may be readily removed and replaced with others to denote a diEerent price. Preferably, a two-section price tag is provided and by having tag sections on hand printed with all numerals, any two sections may be readily engaged with the .plate 7 to denote the desired price.
The arms of the attaching device are intended primarily to be forced into cuts of lmeat, but obviously an attaching device of other form could be provided for connecting the plate and the price tag with other produce or the like on sale.
I claim:
l. A marker comprising a plate having, card-holding means at three edges but free of such means at its fourth edge, a card inserted into said card holding means from said fourth edge ofsaid plate, and an attaching device having a spring clip jointly receiving said fourth edge of said plate and the adjacent portion of said card, whereby to not only mount plate and card upon produce or the like on sale, but to removably hold the card enf gaged with said card-holding means.
2. 'In a marker, a plate having card-holding means at three edges but free of such means at its fourth edge to permit a card to be inserted from said fourth edge, and an attaching device having a spring clip to receive said 10o fourth edge and the contiguous portion of the card, whereby to not only mount card and plate upon produce or the like on sale lout to opposite edge of the plate and Contiguous 1o hold the card detaohably engaged With said portion of the Card, whereby to not only holding means. mount the card and plate upon produce or 3. A marker comprising a plate having the like on sale, lout to hold the card detach- 5 Gard holding means at one edge lout free of ably engaged With said holding means.
such means at its opposite edge, to permit a- In testimony whereof" I have hereunto l5 card to he inserted into said cardA holding affixed my signature.
means from said opposite edge and an attach'- p ing device having a spiingslip `to receive said FREDERIGK'sW. WANNER.
