MOTORING GAP.
Application filed April 1, 1927. Serial No.'1 80,285.
This invention relates to caps of the type provided with a full top and a peak orvisor, and my object is to so construct the cap that eye protecting glasses may be carried thereby either in position for use or in a safe posi tion when. not in use.
I attain my object by providing the'underside of the peak of the cap with one part of a snap fastener, the other part of which is carried by the frame 'of a pair of'eye' glasses whereby, when the cap is being worn, the
. glasses may be suitably positioned in front of the wearers eye. lVlthin the fullness of the cap over the peak is formed a pocket in which the glasses may be safely kept when not required for use. v
The invention is hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawingin which Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a cap showing a pair of eye glasses connected to'the peak;
Fig. 2 a longitudinal section of the cap with the eye glasses in position on the peak; and c c Fig. 3 aplan view of the underside of the cap, partly broken away, showing the eye glasses in thecap.
1 In the drawings like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts lnthe different figures.
The cap, except in the details of construction hereinafter described, is of an ordinary type provided with the full top 1 and the peak or visor 2. The fullness of the top 02*;-
tends well forward over the peak and is se-. cured thereto by'nieans of the snap fastener 3. 4 is the lining of theicap secured in place and arranged in the ordinary manner, Secured to the underside of the peak is one part 5 of a snap or dome fastener of ordinary type.
For use in connection with the cap I provide a pair of eye glasses, of which 6 is the frame, which may be of any known type. To'
the bridge of this frame Isecure a clip 7 prefposition in the pocket in the top of erably formed of sheet metal. This clip is formed with a fiat portion 8, to which is secured a part9 of a snap fastener complevmentary to the part 5. When thetwo parts of the snap fastener are engaged, as shown-in Fig. 1, the fiat portion 8 of the clip 7 contacts withthe' underside of the peak and serves to level the eye glasses and prevents their twisting relative to the wearers eyes. The eye glasses may thus be held in a suitable posi- Y tion to shield the eyes of the wearer of the cap. They are also readily removed when not required. 7
In order that the eye glasses may be safely carried,-when not in use, I provide in the lining of the front fullness of the top of the cap a pocket .10, the mouth of which faces the crown of the cap. The pocket is provided with a snap fastener 11 by means of which it may be closed. This pocket is" of suitable length and depth to exactly contain the eye glasses and, as the pocket is positioned above the peak, the eye glasses will be protected from accidental damage by thepeak and the doubled fullness of the top of the capover the peak.
What I claim is I I In a peaked cap the combination with its peak of a fastener comprising two parts adapted to be detachably connected with one another, oneof said parts being secured centrally to the underside of the peak, the eye glasses having their frame provided with a clip secured to the centre thereof, the complementary part of the fastener'being secured to the clip, whereby the eye glasses may be detachably secured to the peak in front of the wearers eyes, and the saidclip being formed with a flat portion adapted to contactwith the underside of thepeak to level the eye 7 glasses and prevent their twisting relative to the wearers eyes. y I
Signed at Toronto, Canada, this 30th day of March, 1927. r e
