UNITED STATES ATENT OFFICE.
DAVID K. OSBOURN, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
IMPROVEMENT IN POCKET-BOOKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 169,470, dated November 2, 1875; application filed September 11, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, DAVID K. OSBOURN, of Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented a new and Improved Wallet, of which the following is a specification In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a top view of the blank from which my improved wallet is made, and Fig. 2 a vertical transverse section of the wallet.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. 1
The object of my invention is to furnish a cheap and neat wallet or pocket-book, that is made of suitable light material, and applied in similar manner as the more expensive pocketbooks, for inclosing money, letters, cards, and other articles. 7 v
The invention consists of a wallet or pocketbook made of one continuous blank, with the parts folded and fastened together in suitable manner.
In the drawing, A represents a blank for my wallet or pocket-book, which blank is cut in one continuous piece from paper, imitation leather, or other suitable light material. The blank is made of a central part, B, with a flap, O, at one end, and side extensions D at the other end, for folding the gussets therefrom. The part B, below the flap O, has two symmetrical side extensions, E, which arevof such length that gussets may be folded at both sides, while the remaining sections extend still, on being folded across the full width of the central part B, and form a double connected together by being pasted or stitched along the edges.
I do not claim the shape of the wallet or pocket-book, as the same is extensively manufactured in leather; but these wallets are made of different pieces and material. They cannot be furnished so cheaply as my Wallet,
which is made of one piece and material, serving the same purpose, but being, on account of its cheapness, readily replaced with another from time to time, as required.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat- -ent- A wallet or pocketbook made of one continuous blank, of paper or other cheap material, that has a central part with end flap and side extensions, and symmetrical side pieces folded in gussets and pockets, and connected at the edgesto form the wallet, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
