MILK-BOTTLE CON TAmER.

Application filed May 18, 1927. Serial N0. 192,383.

This invention relates to improvements in milk bottle containers and has particular reference to a container adapted to be located at a customers residence, for the purpose of receiving both full and empty milk bottles.

Another object of this invention is to produce a device wherein the delivery man may deposit a filled bottle in an open rack, and then move the rack in such a manner as to place the filled bottle within an enclosure for protection against dirt and sunlight.

A further object is to produce a device of this character which is simple in construction and therefore one which may be placed at the customers door without extra charge to the customer.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character which will not delay the milkman in his delivery.

A- still further object is to produce a device which will encourage the return of empty bottles and will also tend to prevent breakage which ordinarily occurs.

A still further object is to provide a device which is simple, neat in appearance, and economical to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

Figure II is a top plan view of Figure I, partly broken awa In the delivery of milk to residences, it is common practise to set the bottles upon the customers doorstep, which bottles are oftentimes left for a considerable period of time, with the result that dirt will accumulate upon the bottle cap, and if the milk is exposed to the sun, the milk is apt to be soured.

It has also been found that a large amount of bottles are broken due to the fact that the same are accidently knocked over and roll down the steps. This breakage will be en-' tirely prevented by the use of my device.

In use, a customer places an empty bottle, as for instance in the section A of the cratelike structure. The delivery man will remove the empty bottle from the section A and place a filled bottle therein. Assumingv that the crate like structure is in the position shown in full lines in Figure I, he will then move the crate-like structure toward the right of the drawing so that the filled bottle will be in the section B and thus protected against the elements and any foreign substances.

It is to be noted that openings 10 are provided in the division wall 17, which serve to make the device in the nature of a cooler and permit the air to circulate through the dee vice.

The customer may remove the bottle at any desired time and replace the same with an empty bottle. The crate may be moved to either side of the device depending upon which is the most convenient.

to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the shape, material, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
