This invention relates'to carburetors for lnternal combustion engines of the 'kind which are adaptedfor supplying two or more different fuels to the engine, either separately or together in the for-in of a mixture of fuels.
Carburetors for this purposc havc been previously proposed having a separate float chamber and fuel feed system for eacn of the different fuels,,and hand operated control. valves have been provided in each of the fuel suppl v systems, so that the driver can athis own discretion change over from a one fuel to another, or alter the proportions ofthe constituents of the mixture, of fuels which is to be supplied to the en ne, the
arrangement or intention being that petrol" or likefuel is used for starting the engine, and when the engine has been running for some time and has acquired a sufficiently high temperature, the change over is effected so that the engine runs on a different fuel su-"h as paraffin, or on a mixture of such fuel and petrol;
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a simple form of car buretor which will automatically vary the fuel suppliech'orchange over from one fuel to another, as the degree to which the fuel is compressed in. the. engine varies.

The nozzles or fuel supply devices 1, 2 may take any suitable form. The nozzles or fuel supply devices 1 and 2 are secured to the hollow plugs '10 as shown and the slit like openingsat their ends are arrangedflush with the surface 14 of a recess in the bodywhich forms the chamber for a valve or controlling slide 6. The slideG'may be operated by a Bowden or other cable 15 and a spring 16 may be provided which engages in a recess 17 in the slide tending to return the slide to its closed position.
The coverplate 18 of the valve. orv slide chamber is provided with a pipe connection 19 to the engine. r
It is, of course, not essential that the throttle controlling the nozzles or their equivalents should take the form of a slide.
It is to be'understood that there may be more than two nozzles or groups of nozzles outlet of a second "whereby the proportion of fuel being disposed with their face of the slide,
or their equivalents and that more than two different kinds or qualities of fuel may be supplied thereby. Further, two or more nozzles or their equivalents may constitute a group receiving fuel from the same source of supply. If desired, one, two or more of the nozzles or of the groups of nozzles may be employed for supplying steam or to the mixture in the carburetor.
What I claim then is p 1. In a carburetor, the combinatibn of a mixing chamber having an outlet adapted for connection with the intake of a engine, a plurality of independent feed systems for supplying different fuels, an air inlet, a slide disposed transversely of the mixing chamber 7 and the said air inlet and having an opening allowing the free passage of fuel from the feed systems and air fr-omthe air inlet to said mixing chamber, the proportion of air passing to said mixing chamber depending on the position of the slide, a control operating the slide to enable the mixing chamber to be throttled, and a plurality of nozzles for delivering the different fuels from the feed systems to the mixing chamber, said nozzles outlets adjacent a whereby as the passage though the mixing chamber is progressively throttled the outlet of one of the nozzles is progressively restricted in order to decrease the proportion of fuel supplied to an engine from the said nozzle, and, as the opening in the slide is moved to register with the mixing chamber, a projection on the slide extending into the said opening serves to restrict the supplied to the engine from the said second nozzle is decreased.
2. In a carburetor, the combination of a mixing chamber having an outlet adapted for connection with the intake of an engine, a plurality of independent feed supplying different fuels, a slide disposed transversely of the mixing chamber and hav- .ing an opening allowing free passage through the chamber when said opening registers with the chamber, a control operatingthe slide to enable the mixing chamber tobe throttled, a plurality of nozzles pro ecting into the mlxlng chamber and serving to nozzle progressively,
systems for 7 slide is moved to register with the mixing on the slide extending chamber, a projection into the said opening serves to restrict the outlet of a second nozzle progressively, whereby the proportion of fuel supplied to the engine from the said second nozzle is decreased.
3. In a carburetor, the combination of a mixing chamber having an outlet adapted for connection with the intake of the engine, an air inlet in the form of a Venturitube, a plurality of independent feed systems for supplying different fuels, a slide disposed transversely of the mixing chamber and at the narrowest part of the said V enturi tube and having an opening capable of allowing the free passage of air from the air inlet and fuel from the supply systems to the said chamber, a control operating the slide to enable the mixing chamber to be throttled, a plurality of nozzles, having elongated outlet openings, projecting into the mixing chamber and being arranged with their mouths adjacent the said slide and at the narrowest part of the said Venturi tube and serving to supply the different fuels from the feed systems thereto, whereby as the passage through the mixing chamber is progressively throttled the outlet of one of thenozzles is progressively restricted in order to decrease the proportion of one fuel supplied to an engine from the said nozzle, and a projection on the slide extending into the opening therein capable of covering the opening in another nozzle, the opening of this nozzle being simultaneously and progressively increased in order to increase the proportion of the other fuel fed to the engine when the opening of the other nozzle is decreased.
