DISPLAY mivron I I Original application filed August 3, 1925, Serial No. 47,865. Divided and this application filed November i 28, 1927. Serial No. 236,295.
The present invention relates to improve nents in display devices, and constitutes a division of my co-pending similarlyentitled application filed August 3, 1925, Serial No. 4
A further object of the invention is to' provide a small, unobtrusive, simple and inexpensive devicelwhich will rigidly hold 'a placard, tag or thelike and protect the same. With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention willbe more fully described hereinafter, and will be more parti-' cularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto.
In the drawings, wherein like symbols refer to like or corresponding parts through out the several views:
Figure 1 is a perspective-view of an improved display device constructed according to the present invention; 7
Figure 2 is an end view thereof;
Figure 3 is a transverse section take through the device;
Figure 4 is a horizontal section; Figure 5 is a perspective view showing a sli htly modified form of the invention; and igure 6.is a horizontal section taken on the line 6--6 in Figure 5.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 30 and 31 designate clamp members by means of which the device may be secured to a shelf.
4.0 The lower clamp member is preferably bent up into substantially invented V-shape in order to more readily insert and more firmly secured the device to a shelf.
The clamp members 30 and 31 are shown as connected together at one end by outer and inner straps 32 and 33, respectively, oifset in different planes to provide a slot, as 34. The other end of the device is shown as provided with outer and inner straps 35 and I0 36 of similar construction, except that the strap 35 is shown as bent backwardly at 40 and inwardly at 41 in Figure 4 along its outer vertical edge. This strap 35 will thus the opposite side of the device.
provide a stop for the card. A card may be slid through t-heslot 34 and between the straps 32 and 33. The card may be pushed along until its advancing edge enters between the straps 35 and 36 and until it is pushed home against the edge 10. The straps 33 and 3Gwill remain behind the card, and the straps 32 and will be in front of the card, and the card may thus be held in the device.
Referring more particularly to Figures 5 and 6, clamp membersBO and 31 are shown as having offset straps and 51 connected therebetween at. one side of the device and a single strap 52 connected therebetween at The straps 50 and 51 are shown as at the right hand side of the device. If the straps 50 and 51 be at the right hand side of the device a card may be inserted from the right between these two ofi'set straps, 50 and 51, and the advancing edge of the card may be received back of the single strap 52 at the opposite side. This single strap 52 is preferably of channel form or provided with a stop member, as 53. The stop member 53 is shown as bent rearwardly from the outer edge of the strap 52 and the flange 54 is shown as bent inwardly from the rear edge of the stop 53. A receiving channel is thus formed for one edge of the card and the card may be confined on both front and rear sides. 7
While the device may be supported upon the edge of a shelf by the clamp members 30 and 31 it will be readily understood that the device may be placed on a counter or other surface to display a placard or tag, the lower clamp member, as 31, resting on the counter or other surface.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction and design of the abovespecifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof, provided such changes fall within the scope of the following claims which define thev invention.
What isclaimed is 1. A display device comprising upper and lower clamping members, a pair of end straps extending between said members, a pair of inner straps also extending between said members in spaced relation to the end straps and offset inwardly from the end.
straps to rereive :1 card between the end and inner straps, one of said end straps having av stop member extending rearwerdly and inwnrdly from the outer edge thereof.
2. A display device comprising upper and lower clamping members, 1L pair of end st'ups extending between said members, 2). pair of inner straps also extending between said members in spaced relation to the end straps and oii'set inwardly from the end straps to receive a card between the end and inner straps, and a stop member carried by one of the end straps and extending in the path of the card.
In testimony whereo'l. I ufiix my sigrmture.
