Description

G. F. EGAN DISPLAY DEVICE Original Filed Aug. 5, 1925 Patented Dec. 27, 1927.
marsh STATES GEORGE F. EGAN, 0F JERSEY GITY, NEW JERSEY.
DISPLAY DEVICE.
original application fiIed August 3, 1925, Serial No. 47,865. Divided and thisapplication filed April 8,
The present invention relates to improve' ments in display devices andconstrtutes a division o'l my amending similarly entitled ap iilieation, tiled August 3, 1925, tlerial, No. li ies. I
Fin object of the invention described and claimed herein is to provide a simple, inexpensive, but rigid and. durable, holding device for cards, tags and the like employed for the purpose of displaying the price, stock :nmnbers or other information in connec tion with goods placed upon shelves or other similar supports,
The ii'ivention has for a further object to provide an miobstructive, neat and con'ipaet device which may be securely held upon. the shell or support, or placed on a flat surface, and wl'iich will support a card.
llith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention will be more fully de scribed. hcreinatter, and will be more partii-ularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto.
in the drawings, wherein like symbols retor to like or corresponding parts throughout the several views;
Figure l is a perspective view showing a device constructed according to the present invention;
l i rure is a illfOllt elevation of the same showing a card in place therein;
Figure 3 an edge view thereof; and
l i rure l: is a vertical section taken on the line 4l-%lin .l ignre 2r iitelerringr more particularly to the drawmp3s, a shell? is represented by dotted. lines athil in lligruri-i l. The flange members 54. and are shown as engaging the upper and lower walls of the shell, and a V-shaped panel 56 is shown as extending upwardly t'rom the lower clamp member 54-. This partial panel 56 may rest against the front wall of the shelf when the device is in position on the shelt. Side strips 57 and 58 are shown as connecting the lower and upper clamp members at the ends of the device, and a horizontal. strip 59 is shown extending between the strips 57 and 58. A slot 60 is shown as provided for the insertion of a Serial No. 100,617.
card 61. A, card inserted in the slot 60 will be held in place by the strips 5"? and 58 and the partial panel 56, thcstrips 57 and 58 preventing; the card from falling irontward, and the partial panel 56 preventing the card from falling backward.
The downward movement oi the card is checked at the points where the side strips 57 and 5S and the clamp member 5% merge.
In the use of the device a card showing a price desigmition is indicated in Figure 2, the ends of this card being indicateifl. in dotted lines. The card shown as ot a length to admit of its being; passed through the slot (30 at the top of the device, but the strips 5? and 58 overlap the end portions oil? the slot 60, so that the ends of the price card are shown as confined by such stri s, the strips extending in front of the card, while the V-shaped panel 56 lies in back of the card. In other words, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, the partial panel 56 is in a plane ollset be hind. the plane in which the strips 57 and 58 lie.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction and design of the above specritically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof.
What claimed is 1. A display device comprising upper and lower clt'tll'lplllg members adapted to lit the upper and lower walls of a shell, a partial panel extending upwardly 'lrom the lower clamping member and adapted to lie against the front wall or edge oi? the shell, strips ere tending between the upper and lower clamp members at the ends of the device and lying in a plane ol'l'set outwardly from the plane oi said partial panel, a horizontal strip e:\'- tending across between said end strips at the upper portions 01' the latter, said upper clamp member and horizontal strip having a slot therebctween for receiving a card, said slot being disposed in a plane between the planes of the strips and partial panel, the ends of said slot overlapping the end strips.
2. A. display device comprising means to I," in;
support the device, a partial panel extending upwardly from the lower portion of said means, strips extending between the upper and lower portions of said means at the ends of the device and lying in a plane ofi'set outwardly from the plane of said partial panel, a horizontal strip extending across between said end strips at the upper portions of the latter, said device having a slot adjoining the horizontal strip for receiving a card, said slot being disposed in a plane between the planes of the strips and partial panel.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature.
GEORGE F. EGAN.
