VANITY CASE.
Application filed December 29, 1527.
This invention relates to vanity cases, and pertains more particularly to a powder con- 'tainer or compartment therefor: the primary object the inventii'in bei to provide a wherein one or the hinged r nbers there-- of is provided with a novel orin of cc bined powder container and pull compartment.
A further object of the inven ion is to pro vide a case with a dissed cov r having an inwardly cur ed rim and a par ierein which forms not only a powder c in conjunction with the bottom or tainer, but also the bottom of a pull coinpartnient that underlies the iinvardly curl riin so thatan'iple space is :1 rded to receive a relatively large puff, an ierein the 17; serves to hold the pull lthin its coinpartment.
In the drawingst- Figure 1 is a plan view of'the invention in open position oi? the parts, and
7*, n .1 K C,- O ri i iguie .4 is a section ca me n n or it 1 ure 1 .in proceeding; in accordance with the present invention a c is employed having, a
body and a hinged cover 2.
The cover may be 0:? any desired form, J' 1 ,r will 0 s, while tile buoy has a d shed JQLLOLD, o aoc an inwardly curled riin d which overlies the bottom and is engaged by the cover 2 in closed position or the latter. v
A disk or partition 5 of less diameter than that or the bottom has flanged marginal edge 6 which latter seats on the bottom 3 and is suitably secured thereto, for example by means of solder 7 and forms a powder container or compartment in conpinctlon with the bottom 3, The disk 5, it w ll be noted 18 secured at such distance from the bounding edge of the botton'i so as to torn] a substantially flat bottom or spot tor a powder pull, which latter is engaged beneath the run l and held on the disk 5 thereby.
From the foregoing" it will be seen that a simple and compact consruction is provided and wherein the disk 5 functions not only as the top of the powder compartment, but a c, as the bottom of the pull compartment, the bottom 3 and its integral continuation or rim 4: providing not only the bottom of the polio, amsseorrusnrrs, essreivon To one, massiicrrosnrrs.

powder compartment, but also the upper portion of the pull? compartment.
The disk 5 has a preferably circular opening 6 serving as filling inlet and dispensing; outlet for the powder compartment. A rotary dispensing control disk 7 is pivoted at S to the disk 5 and has an opening 9 corresponding to and adapted to register with opening 6 and further has a circular foraminated area 10 likewise adapted to register with opening 6 so as to enable dispensing eat the powder in a sifting dike manner. finger engaging projection 11 is provided on the disk ,5 to enable convenient rotation thereof. The present invention not only provides a compact structure, but also affords a pufi compartment which can house a puff of maximum size in proportion to that of the case.
Having thus described my invention what I claim. as ters Patents is 1. In a vanity case, a body having a dished bottom and an inwardly curled rini, a cover hinged to the body and'engageable within the rim, disk of less diameter than that of the body having a central opening and aflanged marginal edge which latter seats on andris secured to the dished bottom of the body to form powder compartment in conjunction therewith, and which disk underlies said rim to form a pull holding compartment in conjunction with the rim, and a rotary control disk pivoted to the first named disk, and having an opening adapted to register with the opening of the first named disk and further having a terminated area also adapted to register with the opening of the first named disk.
.2. In vanity case, a bodyhaving a dished bottom and an inwardly curled rim, :1 cover hinged to the body and engageable within the rim, a disk having an apertured part secured to the dished bottom to form a powdering compartment in conjunction therewith, said disk underlying the rim to form a pufiiholding compartment in conjunction therewith, and a rotary control disk pivoted to the first named disk and having an apertured part adapted to register with the apertured part of the first named disk. 7
3; In a vanity case, a body having a dished bottom, a disk secured at its periphery to the rim, 1 disk vhaving an apertured part se- 10 body to the bottom and having an apertured cured to the dished bottom to form a powder part,-and arotary control member carried by compartment in conjunction therewith, said the disk and having an "apertured dispensing disk underlying the rim to form a pufl hold- 5 part adapted to register with said apertured ing compartment in conjunction therewith,
part of the first named disk. c and control meansfor the apertured part. 15 4c. In a Vanity case a body having a dished In testimony whereof I have hereunto bottom and an inwardly curled rim, a cover signed my name vto this specification.
