Description

Sept. 25, 1928. 1,685,717
L. MULLER TUNING-DEVICE Filed May 31, 1927 Patented Sept 25, 1928. i i 7 LEOPOLDiMUL LER, OF SCHONBACH, CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
TUNING DEVICE.
Application filed May 31, 1927, SerialNo. 195,518, and in Germany October 6, 1926.
This invention relates to tuning devices of that type consisting of a series of reeds in tubes which are mounted in such manner that any one of them having a reed which units a note of the pitch desired can be selected for use.
In devices of the character described the tubes have been. permanently secured to a holder in close or substantially close relation,
10 thereby rendering it diflicult to blow into any particular single tube. It is therefore the object ofthis invention to provide a de vice of the type referred to of which the tubes containing reeds can be easily separated Without destroying the unity of the device. With the object above referred to in View, the device comprises a series of tubes each containing a reed and hinged to a holder so that thejtubes can be rocked about their hinge pins.
Reference being had to the drawings herein v Figurel is a plan illustrating the device havingall the tubes arranged compactly in contiguity. v s
Figure 2 is a plan of the device illustrating the tubes separated foruse.
Figure 3 is a side view ofthe device showing the tubes separated for use. Figure 4 is a section taken along theline w-w Figure 1.
A series of tubes 1 are each provided at one end with a lug 2 adapted to fit between similar lugs 2 arranged in series along. a holder 3 and to be hinged between said lugs by pins 4; i g
2. A tuning device comprising a holder;
a series of tubes each containing a reed and having a lug at one end, and a pin forrockingly securing each tube to the holder.
3. A tuning device comprising a holder consisting of a strip of material bent into U-shape in cross-sect1on,a seres of tubes each containing a reed and having a lug at one end, and a pin passing through said holder and lug to constitute a hinged connection between each tube and the holder.
4. A tuning device comprising a holder consisting of a strip of material bent into U-shape in cross-section and having a series of lugs integrally formed along parallel edges of the holder, a series of tubes each containing a reed and having a lug at one end, and a pin projecting through each op posite pair of lugs on the holder and a lug on one of the tubes to hinge the tube to the holder.
