This inventionv relates to display devices, post members 7 project upwardly frjomwthis fm and 'particularly to a device for raising housing and-a roof 8 is supported thereon. wat@` in the oldfashioned wayand which in theusual manner. Y, i i l may also serve for the practical operation A centrally disposed leak proofopening` jf m'sg wat@ from a well, or.l it may be 9v is yprovided in Athe housing G andlcan be collinette'dv to an '-.underground main if de formed of wood, sheet metal or cementy as 5r sited, Y f l desired, a tubular casing 10 being sunl'r inl One object of the invention is to desig. the ground below the housing, and a Water a practical and'` unique display and adverpipe 11 is connected thereto and suppliesy 10 tising device which can be Vsetl upfinr'sliow water for saidV device, or it` can 'be Sei; ovmwindo'ws `for advertisingcertain'products or a conventional well if desired. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof showing 'a to engage the teeth on the sprocket 25 for,y 85 manikin grasping, the handle ofthe crank. winding thedrum 21 and raising theybuclret Fig-3 is an enlarged sectionalfdetail"ofv 29 which is attached theretoby means of the advertising attachment. a rope `or cable 30 the bucket then falls back 40 Fig. 4t is an end view thereof. into the well and the operation is repeated Fig; 5 is an enlarged detail'showing the An advertising apparatus 31 is mountedigo drive chain. n directly above thel drum 21, and comprises Fig. 6 is a transverse sectional view a pair-offspaced apart end members 32 conthrough one of tlie advertising boxes. A nected by means 0f EL plurality Of hollow Referring now'particularly to the draw shaft members 33, theend members being ing, the numeral indicates thekplatform Vof provided with stub shafts 34 secured there- 95 Y the lstructure to which a housing 6 is seto,l and journaled in suitable bea-rings 35 cured, and which is substantially7 similar to secure'dtorthe posts 7 Y the curb of an old fashioned well, hollow Individual display boxes 36 are pivotally mounted on each of the hollow shafts 33 and comprise top and bottom members 37 suitably rabbeted to receive the glass plates 38, the members 37 being covered by a metal cap 39, the edges of which are turned as shown .at 39a in Fig. 5. of the drawing, so that suitable strips containing indicia thereon may be inserted endwise, or by flexing the strip, or suitable glass plates may be inserted endwise.
A sprocket 40 is mounted on the stub shaft 34 in the position as shown, and a short section of hollow shaft or sleeve 41 is mounted in a suitable bearing 42 secured to the wall of the post 7, the opposite end receiving the end of the shaft 34 and forming a bearing,
another sprocket 43 is mounted on the shaft 4l, and is geared to the sprocket 22 by means of the chain 44, which chain is provided with suitable spaced apart pins 28 identically similar to those on the chain 27, these pins engaging the sprocket 4() at certain intervals for rotation of the display apparatus, the timing, etc., being governed` by the spacing Y of the pins 28 on the chain.
Due to the spacing of the hollow shafts 33, and depth of structure 31, it will be obvious that as the device is rotated, that the display boxes 36 will always hang in avertical readable position.
A plunger 45 is mounted on a rod 46 within the casing 10, and ispivotally connected to the bottom of thebucket in any approved manner, this bucket drops by gravity when the pin disengages from the drive sprocket, and is raised by rotation of the drum caused by the pins 28 engaging the sprocket 25, this raising and dropping of the bucket setting up a pumping action for supplying water if desired, and in practise I provide a jointed manikin who grasps the crank 23, whereas in reality, the manikin is operated by the motor, I also make the manikins head detachable so that another may be mounted thereto and to represent different nationality.
From the foregoing description, it will be obvious that I have perfected a very attractive, interesting and practical display and advertising device.
