A. s. PICKLES BABY HARNESS Filed Aug. 1927 a null IIIIHH 1 INSZINTUH JWXMM,
Patented Sept. 11, 1928.
UNITED STATES ALBERT STEVENSON PICKLES, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
BABY HARNESS.
Application filed August 8, 1927. Serial No. 211,438.
My invention has reference to meansior confining a baby or small child to a limited area and more particularly to an improvement in a baby harness, the construction of which is particularly adapted for the above purpose.
I am aware of United States Patents No. 602,861, No. 1,193,374 and No. 1,426,063, none of which show or claim my improved construction in a baby harness.
The object of my invention is to improve the construction of a baby harness, whereby the harness is strong and durable and may be adjusted in size for babies or small children.
Another object of my invention is to construct a baby harness so that the adjusting straps are adjustably secured to a strong flat pad on the back of the harness.
My invention consists in the peculiar and novel construction of a baby harness, said baby harness having details of construction as will be more fully set forth hereinafter and claimed.
Figure 1 is a front view of my improved baby harness.
Figure 2 is a back ness.
Figure 8 is a side view of the baby harness, and
' Figure 4 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken on line 4, 4-, of Figure 1, through one end portion of the adjustable breast strap and one of the shoulder straps.
In the drawing 5 indicates a semi-rigid flat back pad to which the waist and shoulder straps are adjustably secured. A
view of the baby harwaist strap 6 extends around the front and onto the back ofthe back pad 5, adjacent the bottom of the pad and is adjustably socured at each end portion 7, 7, to the back pad 5 by buckles 8, 8, which in turn are so cured to the ends oi a buckle strap 9, riveted to the back pad 5. This buckle strap 9 also secures a ring-10, centrally to the back pad 5. Shoulder straps 11, 11, each having a lower front end 12 are riveted to the waist strap 6, a predetermined distance apart.
These shoulder straps 11, 11, extend-upward, then over and downward to the back pad 5. Each shoulder strap 11, has a back end portion 13 adjust-ably secured to a buckle 14: on a buckle strap 15, riveted to the back pad 5, as shown in Figure 3. A breast strap 16 having loop shaped ends 17, 17, is slidable on the shoulder straps 11, 11, the shoulder straps 11, 11, extending through the loop shaped ends 17, 17 of the breast strap 16, as shown in Figure 4E.
By this construction the waist and shoulder straps are adjustably secured to a comparatively large and firm fiat back pad and the breast strap may be adjusted up or down on the shoulder straps for different sizes of babies or small children; also a cord, not shown, may be fastened to the ring on the back of the back pad and secured to av fixed object, not shown, to hold the baby within a given area.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new 1. A baby harness having a back pad, a waist strap adjustably secured to the back pad, shoulderstraps fixed to the waist strap and adjustably secured to the back pad, a
breast strap slidable on the shoulder straps,
means for adjustably securing the waist strap to the back-pad and means for adjustably securing the shoulder straps to the back pad.
2. A baby harness having a semi-rigid flat back pad, a waist strap adjustably cured to the lower portion of the back pad, shoulder straps fixed at their front ends to the waist strap and adjust-ably secured at their rear ends to the back pad, a breast strap slidable on the shoulder straps, a ring secured to the back pad, means for adjust ably securing the .rear ends of the waist strap to theback pad and means for adjustably securing the rear ends of the shoulder straps to the back pad.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification,
ALBERT STEVENSON PIOKLES.
