This invention relates to almop head of thetype wherein the vmop stock in strip form is adapted to be secured to a supporting metal strip or band. l Y' i It is an object of this invention to provide a Vmop head of this type which may be made in a, simple and inexpensive manner, and' which is adapted to the purposes 0f large scale production.

Other and further important objects and advantages of this invention will be apparent from the` following description of an illustrated embodiment of the present invention.

The reference numeral 1 indicates a supporting band, preferably formedl of a relativelysoft metal. In the operation of preparing the metal strip to serve as a supporting band for a mop swatch 2, tongues or prongs 3 are struck` up fromthe bandll at predetermined spaced intervals. Said tongues 3 serve to engage the band 4 of themop swatch 2 and also provide slots 5. Said slots 5 are so positioned-as to locate "the,

vertices of the triangular ring into which the band 'l is subsequently formed, the wea-kening of the metal band caused by the slots being sufficient to cause the band to bend naturally at those points, (Figure 2.). The ends of the band l are bent at right angles thereto as shown at 6 and 7.
