y as a barret pin.
vAn important object of the invention lies in a pin of this naturewhichwill maintain the hair in the desired position more eiii- `ciently than the ordinary hair pin and which, 1o because of certain peculiar features of construction, Will be prevented from easily falling out of the hair.
With the above and numerous other objects vin view, as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel details of construction and in the comlbination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more vfully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure l is a side elevation of the pin embodying the features of my invention,
Figure 2 is an edge elevation thereof. Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the pin is formed from a single `strand of wire bent intermediate its ends to provide a bight 5 and legs 6 and 7. IThe end of the leg 7 is bent back over upon itself between the legs 6 and 7 to form a hook-like portio'nB. The intermediate portion of the leg 7 is bent in a sinuous manner as is indicated at 9. An intermediate portion of the leg 3 below the portion 7 is bent in a sinuous manner as indicatedat 10. 'The portion 9 is dispose-d in the sameI plane with the hook portion 8 and in a plane at right angles to the plane of the portion 10.
The construction of this pin should now be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof. It will be seen that the pin may be manufactured at a comparatively' low cost and will prove efficient for carrying out the purposes specified. It
vis apparent that changes in the details of construction, in the sizes and material may beresorted to Without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as'hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages. l
Having thus described my invention, what ,00 I claim as new is A hair pin of the lclass describedy formed r from a single strand of wire bent ,intermediate its ends to a substantial U-shaped formation to provide a bight and a pair' of legs, 55 the terminal of one leg being bent over upon itself between the two legs to forml a hook portion, the intermediate portion of said one leg being bent in a sinuous manner to be disposed in the Same plane with the hook portion, the intermediate portion of the other leg being bent in a sinuous manner to be disposed'ina plane at right angles to the first mentioned sinuous portion. In testimony whereof I aix my signature.
WILLIAM F. BLACK.
