This invention relates to an article of jewelry and has for an object the provision of an article which is both ornamental and useful, in that it serves both as an ornament and as a perfume holder or container.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a perfume holder which includes an absorbent pad housed within a permanently closed container, the latter having openings therein for the escape of perfume carried by the pad, the construction preventing'loss of the contents of said container, or injury to the container from accidental opening occasioned by being caught in the [5 garments of the wearer, or from other causes, where a container is provided with a hinged lid or closure.
Another object of the invention is the provision of means for attaching the holder or :0 container in position for use, novel means being provided for securing the attaching means to the holder. I

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a view showing the invention in use.
Figure-2 is an enlarged front elevation of the holder.
Figure 3 is a sectional view.
Figure 4 is an enlarged edge view of one of the shoulder strap clasps.
Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the holder as shown comprises a base or back wall 10 and a front wall 11. The back wall is preferably fiat while the front wall is curved or outwardly bulged as shown in Figure 3 of the drawing so as to provide a container or holder for the accommodation of an absorbent pad 12, which may be of felt or other suitable material. i
The edges of the wall 11 are permanently secured to the wall 10 and for this purpose, the wall 10 is provided with an annular flange 13 which surrounds the edge of the wall 11 and is bent over against the adjacent curved portion of said wall 11 so as to clamp the walls together. The wall 11 is provided with openings 14 for the escape of perfume from the pad 12, and to provide means whereby perfume may be introduced into the container. These perforations are preferably provided by making the wall 11 in the form of an ornamental scroll or filigree work.
In order to attach the holder to the clothing, there is provided a clasp which includes a lever 15 and a lever 16. The levers l5 and 16 are pivotally secured together as shown at 17 and are provided at one of their ends with gripping jaws 18. The lever 16 is rigidly secured to the'rear wall 10, while the lever 15 is movable relatively and the jaws 18 are yieldingly held in closed position by means of a spring 19.
In order to secure the lever 16 to the back or base 10 of the holder the said jaw is provided with spaced openings 20 and the back wall 10 has fin ers 21 struck therefrom whose ends are ent over upon the outer face of the lever 16 as shown at 22.
If desired the holder may be used as a lingerie support and for this purpose, one end of the lever 15 carries a ring 23 which has attached thereto chains 24;. The outer ends of these chains are attached to clasps 25. These rings are attached to one of the levers 27 of the clasps 25', while the other lever 28 may be of ornamental appearance.
It will be apparent from the fore oing description and accompanying drawings that the invention provides a very useful as well as an ornamental article of jewelry by providing a perfume holder which may be used with a number of different garments. This results in an economy of perfume over the usual method of applying the perfume directly to the garment and is especially desirable with the use of expensive perfumes. In addition, it combines with a perfume holder a lingerie support with the use of the latter as an attaching means for the holder.
The inventionlis susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as pro erly fall within the scope of the appended c aim.
