PETER BURNS, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BLEACHING-SOAP.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,223, dated September 28, 1875 application filed 'December 10, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
. Be it known that I, PETER BURNS, of San Francisco city and county, State of California, have invented an Improved BleachingSoap; and I do hereby declare the followin g description sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly ap pertains to make and use my said invention or improvement without further invention or experiment.
My invention relates to a novel combination of, ingredients for the manufacture of a soap ammonia, one (1) gallon.
After adding the mixture to the soap I add the desired quantity of any flavoring-extract in theusual way. The soap is then allowed to stand and harden, when it can be cutout or otherwise formed into bars.
This soap possesses extraordinarycleansing and bleaching qualities, and, when properly used, fabrics can be cleansed with it without rubbing.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A soap compound consisting of the ingredients tallow, cocoa-n ut oil, resin, caustic soda, alcohol, borax, benzoin, and ammonia, in about the proportions specified. I
