A INVENTUM av V umm
NPTERS, PHOTO-LIYHUGRAPMER. WASHINGTON. D, C*y
PATENT OFFICE.
MARIA BRADLEY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
`IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE LUNCH-HEATERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,133, dated September 28, 1875; application filed september 4, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MrsMARIA BRADLEY, ofthe city, county, and State of NewYork, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Lunch-Heater, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a front view of my improved device, one of the doors being shown open and the other partly open. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same, taken through the line av x, Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved device in which a lunch or dinner may be kept warm while being carried from the place where it is cooked to the place where it is to be eaten, or in which a lunch or dinner may be quickly warmed should it become cold, and which shall be simple in construction, convenient in use, and inexpensive in manufacture.
The invention consists in the combination of the box, the door or doors, the vertical partitions, the horizontal partitions, the tapering tube, the lamp, the handle,fand the legs with each other.
A is a box of any desired or convenient size, and which vI prefer to make rectangular in shape. The box A,is made with a close bottorn, top, back, and ends, and its front is closed with one or two doors, B, which are fastened, when closed, by hooks, buttons, or;
tached toits top. The lower part of the tube E is made large enough to receive a small alcohol-lamp, F, which is inserted and removed through an opening in the forward side of the said tube E, which opening is closed by a door, e',- The forward part of the central compartment may also be used to receive articles to be warmed or kept Warm. To one end of the box'A is attached a box, G, open at its top, to serve as a receptacle for knives, forks, spoons, 85o. The box A is provided with a handle, H, for convenience in carrying it, and with short legs I, to prevent it from burning anything upon which it may be set. In the bottom and back of the central compartment of the box A are formed a number of holes for the entrance of air to support the combustion of the lamp.
In using the device the lunch or dinner may be put into it at the house or restaurant where it is cooked, the lamp lighted, and the device carried to the place where the said lunch or dinner. is to be eaten, where it will arrive hot; or the lunch or dinner may be prepared and put into the device, and allowed to become cold, and then, when the lunch hour arrives, by lighting the lamp the said lunch or dinner will be thoroughly heated in a very few minutes.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the box A, the door or doors B, the vertical partitions C, the horizontal partitions D, the tapering tube E, the lamp F, the handle H, and the legs I with each other, substantially as herein shown and described.
MRS. MARIA BRADLEY.
