Description

L A;LOVE10Y.
Stuve-Leg. No. 167,915. Patented Sept.21,ia75.
N FEYERs. PHOWLITHUGRAPHER. WASHXNGTON D C UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IRA A. LOVEJOY, OF DENVER, COLORADO TERRITORY.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-LEGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,915, dated September 21, 1875 application filed August 21, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRA A. LOVEJOY, of Denver, in the county of Arapahoe and Territory of Colorado, have invented a new and Improved Stove-Leg, of which the following is a specification In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a vertical central section of my improved stove-leg, and Fig. 2 a-bottom View of the hearth or base plate of thestove.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to an improved stove-. leg, which is firmly seated in the socket-groove of the hearth-plate of the stove, in such a manner that it does not get detached when the stove is raised for the purpose of changing the position.
The invention consists of a stove-leg with curved and braced tongue, fitting into a curved groove formed by recessed socket-projections at the under side of the bottom or hearth plate.
In the drawing, A represents the base or hearth plate of the stove, and B the stove-leg, which is applied to the base-plate by a curved tongue, D, that slides into a curved groove formed by recessed or dovetailed socket-projections O at the under side of the base-plate A.
The curved tongue B is strengthened by a brace or rib, E, in the bottomof leg, for preventing its breaking off. 7
The curved socket-pieces hold the leg firmly in position when the stove is standing, and,
as the tongue is fully pressed into the groove, the curve prevents any slipping out on the raising of the stove, so-that the annoyance of dropping the legs when moving the stove is fully avoided.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is v The combination of a stove-leg, having curved and braced tongue, with a curved groove formed by recessed socket projecting at the under side of the stove-base plate, substantially in the manner and for the purpose specified.
