IMPROVEME NT IN BLOWERS FOR FIRE-PLACES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,906, dated September 21, 1875; application filed March 29, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JORDAN O. KENNEDAY, of Big Lick, in the county of Stanley and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blowers for Fire- Grates; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an atmospheric blower for fire-places, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, Figure 1 is a plan view, showing fire-place; and Fig. 2 is a section of the blower.
A A represent two metallic plates of the form shown in the drawing, connected at their smaller ends by an inclined plate, B, and at their larger ends, at the top, by a plate, 0, the whole forming the frame of my blower. This frame is covered by a plate, D, hinged at the rear end to the frame, and provided with inclined side flanges a a, which fit within the frame. Under the top D in the sides of the frame is pivoted a bail, b, or other suitable device to be turned for raising the top. The

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- In a blower, as described, the frame or box A B G, hinged top D, and movable bow I), combined with the hearth of a fire-place, substantially for the purposes herein set forth.
