The present invention relates to improvements in ventilators, and its particular object is to provide an economic ventilator adapted to be built into the wall of a house for admitting air to the cooler, or similar purposes. i
It is particularly proposed to provide a ventilator of this character that may be manufactured very cheaply, and is made of sheet metal in which the louvers may be pressed out of a plain sheet in a very simple manner. 1
Further objects and advantages of our invention will appear as the specification proceeds.

Our ventilator consists preferably of a rectangular box 1 open at the ends, and provided with a flange 2 at the front end thereof. Troughs 3 are disposed adjacent the flange 2 at the top and bottom of the box and serve to secure the box to the boards 4 of a wall by means of screws 6 driven through perforations in the inner wall 7 of each trough into the wood. 'The' outer walls 8 'of the troughs are clamped to the flanges 2 by means of the turned 'over edges 9 of the front plate 11 which latter has the louvers formed therein. A screen 12 may be interposed between the edges of the box and the edge of the front plate in the manner shown in the drawin The front pFate has a large bed section 13 pressed out of the plane of t e rim 11 and the louvers are formed by cutting into the material along parallel lines as at 14 and by turning the sections formed by the cuts on a center line lying in the plane of the sheet so that the lower portion 16 of each section is made to project forwardly while the upper portion 17 of each section projects rearwardly from the plane of the sheet whereby openings are formed allowing the air to rise into the box while the turned sections prevent the rain from beating into the box and keep out the dust The sections are rendered somewhat more effective for this purpose by bending over the extremities 18 and 19 of each section in the manner illustrated in the drawing, the front extremity being bent downwardly and. the rear extremity being bent upwardly.
