This intention relates to improvements in seninganochiues with several needles.

So for instance a head made iu several parts may he arranged on the needle-bar oll a sewing-machine, every part ot said head preferably being capable ot hearin each one needle and the parts heiug adj stable with relation to one another. The adjustment may he such that not only the distance of the needles from one another ma)Y he adjusted. hut also that one or niore ot' the needles may he temporarily swung;` out of operative position. 3y means of a head so constructed with several needles. any sewine'eiiaehine may he changed to a machine with several needles. having the needles arranged one behind the other within the direction oft sewing in order to multiply Ythe output o? the machine. it the lfecd of 'the u'orl; s adjusted accordingly.
Furthermore instead ot arranging the needles upon a common head ifo-r instance each needle could he lixed to a separate needlednir. or a head ot the kind descrilreifl mieht he mounted upon the auxiliary needlehar, or in ease olf several auxiliary needlelmrs heine' provided, upon one or several ot then). These auxiliary needle-hars may he coupled with the main needle-bar in such a manner. that the distance of the auxiliary needle-hars from the main needle-har may he varied. The machine is so constructed that the needles or the needle-hars respectively may he lifted separately and independently. In ease ot the arrangement of one or more auxiliary needlesbare. 'thisl may he ohtaiued ttor instance hy coupling the auxiliary needle-hai.' with the main needlehar iu an easily detachable manner, so that by loosening' said couplinfdil the auxiliary needliirhar ma): he lifted alone. In; intentioned above ynreterably the distance between the needles may be regulated auton'iatically with the regulation oit the feed of work. To thisl end an arm l' or the like is connected to the adjusting lever of the stitch regulating device (l regulatingl the feed 01"' work, said arm engagingl a 'l'ork 9 lined to the end ot a spindle il. To the other end ot the spindle 8 the said eccentric disk u is fixed, so that said disk may be turned correspondingly with the adjustment oit the stitch regulating device varying at the saine time the distance ot' the auxiliary needle-bar troni the niain needle-bar.
lllhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. ln a sewing machine the combination of two needles arranged one behind the other in the direction of sewing, with iiiieans to vary the distance between said needles, and a stitch regulating device by ineans of which the distance between said needles is regulated according to the feed of the work.
In a sewing machine the combination of two needles arranged one behind the other in the direction ot sewing, a main needlebar and an auxiliary needle-bar each carrying one ot said needles, a stitch regulating device, and means operated by said stitch regulating device for adjusting the distance between said needles.
2). ln a sewing machine the combination of two needles arranged one behind the other in the direction of sewing, a n'iain needle-bar and an auxiliary needle-bar each carrying one ot' said needles, a sleeve. tor guiding' said a iniliary needle-bar movably mounted in the head ot the machine, a stitch regulating device. an arni fixed to the adjusting' lever ot' said stitch regulating device, a spindle, a crank Vfixed to one end of said spindle and e l jed by said arni, and an eccentric disk l'ixed to the other end of said spindle and engaging tlie'said sleeve guiding the auxi iary needle-bal'.

ln a sewing machine the combination with the head of the machine of two needles arranged one behind the other in the direction of sewing', a inain nee lle-bar and an auxiliary needle-bar each carrying one of sa'd needles, a pair ot' arms pivoted at the upper and lower ends of the head of the machine, a sleeve surrounding said auxiliary needle-bar mounted on said arms, and means tor swinging said sleeve to vary the distance between said needles.
