IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-DRIERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,615, dated September 14, 1875; application filed February 18, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MELVIN N. LOVELL, of Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Hinge for Clothes-Briers, of which the following is a specification My invention relates to a device for hinging the sections of folding clothes-driers together.
It is represented in the accompanying drawing by two figures, as follows: Figure 1 is a transverse section through the frame and hinge, and Fig. 2 is an elevation view of a portion of the frame showing the hinge.
The parts shown are designated by the letters of reference, as follows: A A are the uprights or standards of the frame. B B are the cross-bars or stretchers of the frame, and G is the hinge. The part U is of cast metal, and in form is two elliptical rings joined together in the middle of each side by a bar, 0. The elliptical rings are sufficiently large to encompass the two uprights A A in such a man- I I ner as to allow them to turn freely, and the opening between the ringsthat is, the length of the bar c-is sufficient to admit the stretchers B B. So it will be seen that when the casting O is placed upon the uprights A A, and the stretchers B B are inserted in the opening between the rings, the sections of the frame are perfectly hinged together, and the framework can be extended or folded up with
