UNITED STATES PATENT UFFIOE.
PHILIP SINSZ, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND,
IMPROVEMENT IN GLAZIERS DIAMONDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 167,575, dated September 7, 1875; application filed J une 14, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP SINsZ, of Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented a new and Improved Glaziers Diamond; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in Which- I Figure 1 is a side elevation; Fig. 2, an end elevation.
The object of this invention is to obviate the difficulty experienced by unskilled persons in securing the right inclination of a glaziers diamond to produce the best cutting eflect. It consists in a broad-faced instrument, having at one end a diamond, and at the other a guide-roller, which latter forms, with the diamond, the supports of the instrument upon the glass, and keeps the sharp angle of the diamond in proper position for cutting. In between the guide-roller and the diamond are different-sized notches, which are cut into the face of the metal for the purpose of breaking off the cut portions of the glass.
In the drawing, A represents the handle, and B the metallic head, of my improved glaziers diamond. O is the diamond, located at one extremity of the face ofthe head, and D is a guide roller, located at the other extremity of the face. E are notches, which are cut in the face of the head between the diamond and roller, for the purpose of splitting off the cut strips of glass.
The instrument, as thus described, may be employed with ease and success by persons unskilled in the use of the same; and it is of such a shape and dimension as to be more conveniently portable.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, is-
The combination, with the head B, having centrally-locatednotches,of a diamond, (Land a guide-roller, D, located at opposite ends of the face of the head, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
