HAT.

This invention relates generally to hats and, more particularly, to a certain new and useful improvement in hats commonly known as harvest hats or sun-protectors.

My invention has among its objects the provision of a hat ofthe type stated having an ample, wide brim capable of efficiently shading the wearer without, however, obstructing the vision.

And with the above and other objects in View, my invention resides in the novel features of form and construction of the hat and in the arrangement and combination of the parts thereof, all as hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

Referring now more in detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates-a{preferred embodiment of my invention, A designates the hat as a whole, whicli'is preierably constructed for the most part and except as may later appear, of

As so constructed, the celluloid or other preferably transparent brim-portion 3 affords ample shading and weather protec tection for the face without interfering with the vision of the wearer.

At the normal rear of the hat, the brim is marginally upon its under face provided with means for the attachment thereto'of a detachable transparent visor 6 composed preferably of anaterial similar to that constituting the segmental brim-portion 3. As shown, the visor 3 is segmental or sectorlike in term and is preferably marginally bound or braided, as at 7, While its chordal' or staight margin has attached thereto, as by a strip of braid or other fabric 8, an armate attaching flange 9 whose curvature corresponds to that of the brim of the hat. Oil the flange 9, as best seen in Figure 2, is provided a series of stud members 10 of snap fastener structure, which are adapted for-detachable engagement with the socket members l1 ofv the fasteners co-operatively located on the. hat brim. Obviously, the general structure of the hat and the particular details of the manner of attaching the visor (5 and chin strap 12 cured together on a transverse line extending from'one margin of the brim to the other margin of the brim.
