y LINGERIE-STRAP HOLDER.'y i
Application led September 1, v1926. Serial No. 133,043.
This invention relates to improvements in 4wearing apparel retainers, and has particularl reference to a lingerie strap holder.
The principal object of tlierinvention is to provide a simply and economically constructed device adapted to be conveniently positioned to retain there-between a lingerie strap, and further being equipped with additional fastening means -whereby the device may be adjustably secured to the shoulder portion of a kblouse or like article of wearing apparel. f y
An additional object of the invention is to provide a novel lingerie strap holder that will securely hold the strap in position so that `the danger of the same Vbecoming displaced is eliminated.
@ther objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description. -p
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of `the holder as it would appear secured to an article of wearing apparel and positioned upon the shoulder of the wearer,
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the device per se, V
Figure 3 is a. top plan view of the saine,
Figure 4 is a transverse vertical section through the keeper portion of the holder on the line 4 4 of Figure 2, and
Figure 5 is a fragmentary detail view showing the relative positions of the parts of the device, with a lingerie strap being shown in section and likewise a portion of the blouse of the wearer being shown in section.
It oftentimes happens 'that an unsightly appearance is occasioned due to the lingeriek straps hanging loosely over the shoulders of the wearer, and that have a tendency to slide over the arms. This untidy display is particularly noticeable where the dress or blouse is made of sheer material. y
To overcome this annoyance and to likewise provide an economically and simply constructed article for retaining the lingerie straps, I have devised the present invention whereby a lingerie strap may be readily positioned between the parts of the holder and will be prevented from displacement therefrom and further embody in the device a fastening element, such as a pin, so that the `retaining device may be readily secured to numeral 6 indicates a-metal strip or bar preferably made of flexible material which terminates at one end in a downwardly-bent portion 7. serving as a keeper for a lower metal strip or bar-8 normally positioned in alignment with the strip 6 and spaced therefrom. Y
The strip 8 is pivotally secured as at 9 to the strip (i so that the strip 8 may be actuatedv to assume the position shown to advantage in Figure 3, rwhereby a lingerie strap as indicated at l0 may be readily positioned bet-Ween the strips 6 and 8 and then retained there-between by virtue of the notch ll provided in the strip 8 and the depression l2 that is received in the referred to notch.
To the strip 6 as at 13, I propose to hiligedly secure a fastening element such as a Y pin 14 whereby they device per se may be readily secured to the blouse or dress.
A keeper 15 provided at one end of the strip 6 serves to retain the pin 14 in position, preventing displacement of the pin from the blouse or dress of the wearer. The blouse in this instance is indicated by the numeral 16.
In practice, I have-,found that by the use of this simply constructed device a lingerie strap can be retained in a fixed position on the shoulder of the wearer so that the uncomfortable and unsightly slipping of the strap over the shoulder and onto the arms of the wearer will be entirely eliminated.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative tothe size, material, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing invention, I
