To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN F. ADAMS, of Irvington, VVestchester county, State of New York, have invented a Paper-Weight, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to furnish a hone, on which erasers and desk and pocket knives may be sharpened, with apaper-Weight, the whole forming a new, useful, convenient, and desirable article for the desk.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents the base of the paper-Weight, which may be of any desirable material and shape; B, the hone, which may be of any material or composition and shape suitable for sharpening knives; O, the cover, which may be of any desired material and shape, and made to slide on the base A, as shown, or fastened to any desired part of the base Aby any suitable means. The hone B may have one or more faces of same or different sharpening qualities, and may be placed loose in the base A, or maybe fastened to the base A or cover 0 in any manner that will conveniently present its face or faces to the article to be sharpened. The cover 0 may be dispensed with, if desired. The hone B may be placed so as to present its face or faces from the side, end, or bottom, or other face of the base A. The hone B may also, if desired, be placed in any suitable material, and made 'to revolve or shift in the base A.
I do not claim, broadly, hones placed in cast metal or other material, as such are old. My invention relates solely to paper-weights with bones in or united to them.
I claim- A paper-weight constructed, substantially as described, to serve as a support for the sharpening-hone, arranged as set forth.
