This invention relates to improvements in frames for trimming presses and the like, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a novel frame construction having manufacturing advantages over frames as made heretofore constructed, as Well as advantages of strength and durability.

With reference to the drawings, it will be-"noted that the frame com-prises a base 1,
see Fig. 6, having at the sides thereofvertical projections 2, 2, to the o posite sides of each of which are secured by means ofbolts 3 tie bars 4, 4, which extend upwardly above the base and at their tops support a yoke or top piece 5,- see Fig. 10, the opposite ends of the yoke being secured between the respective pairs of side bars bymeans of bolts 6, 6, see Fig. 1. The bars 4, 4, are
reinforced by means ofseparators 7, one of which is secured between each of the pairs of tie bars, as clearly illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3, by means of bolts 8, 8, passed transversely through the tie bars and through the said separators. The separators are further secured in place by means of studs 9 which are passed through the bottoms of the separators and into the top of the base 1.
-.As clearly illustrated, the yoke 5 includes the upper half of the bearings for a crank shaft 10, and the lower halves of these bearings, designated by the reference numeral 11,
see particularly Fig. 10. are secured to the under side of the yoke by meansof bolts 12, 12. These bearings are further adjust ably supported on jacks 13, 13, threaded into the tops of the respective separators 7, as well shown in Fig. 2. These jacks 13 are provided with means, such as apertures 14, forturning them to adjust the lowerhalves 1 1 of the said bearings with relation to the shaft 10.
Suspended from the offset crank .of the crank shaft by meansof a suitable connectiing rodor pitlnan 15 is the rain 16, which as clearly shown in F igsi 1 and 4 lies between the inner faces of the separators 7. These separators-are formed with a longitudinal extension 17 at one side ofthe working face, and these extensions in conjunction with retaining plates 18 secured by means of bolts 19, 19, to the tie bars onthe sides ofthe uprights opposite the projeo-- tions 17, form a guide channel for the said 'hich secures the connecting rod 15 to the am 16 is extended beyond the side faces of the ram and projects into the guide slots formed as previously described.
To provide a top for the base 1 and a suitable working face, I provide a plate 21, see Fig. 7, which is'adapted torest on-top of \FUD. In the present instance, the pin 20 the base and which is-held to the base by 7 means of a bolt 22 at each corner, the plate being provided with recesses 23 at the corner so that the heads of the bolts 22 lie above the upper or working face.

A frame comprising a base, a yoke, vertical side bars secured to the base and to the yoke and supporting the yoke above the base, separator members secured between each pair of vertical bars, each of said separators having a longitudinal projection along one edge of its inner face, and members secured to the tie bar opposite the projection on each of said separator members and forming with said extension a vertical guide recess.
4. The combination of a frame including a base, a top structure and side bars including a vertical guide slot, a crankshaft j0urnaled in said superstructure, a connecting rod suspended from the crank, a ram, a transverse pin securing the ram to the lower end of the connecting rod, the ends of said pin projecting beyond the sides of said ram and into the said Vertical guide slots, and means for rotating the crank shaft.
